Simply design your fixture as it is in real life and do the same with the light bulb, you'll then get the real effect it's suppose to give.

The GPU is not faster than the CPU, or, your computer would run only on a GPU. It may be faster at times but it depend of the model. However, the CPU is faster because it is "grain free" and the GPU is not. The larger your model, the slower it will be on the GPU. The activation is for both, the CPU ...

These options were available only in v3. In the new v4, there is no need for these options because the new and improved rendering engine is much better.

Because when light enter a solid glass, it is refracted, then, when it exist the glass, it is again refracted, almost back to its original path so very little distortion occur. If your glass are not solid, you need to remove the IOR value for it and set the sine to 10 or so. The way it looks now I can almost guaranty that it's not solid.

That is because your glass isn't make and textured properly. Is it a single face or is it solid (push pulled)?

when I click on Run or press the F9 key, I get a message asking me for a URL, I put one in and it downloads and display it in the output window.

What are your Illumination settings? Looks to me like you're using Ambient Occlusion.

the reason for that post id for how many blades per area and doing that in mm is not so easy. But regardless, you enter the values according to life size, no matter if you use mm, inches etc.

I don't know where you got this suggestion from but all you need to do is use the "Convert material" drop down list button and select "Grass" (using whatever unit you like, in my case, mm) then adjust the number of blades per area to like 0.1 or another number that will generate no more than 2 milli...

Here's a quick render, less than 5 min on my old i7-2600 / 8 threads. I've set the floor, table and a few things a Shiny, the settings for the Illumination settings are below and set the Intensity to 6.2 and this is the result i get. I did notice in your model that oyu have duplicate faces occupying...
