Re: Found an error in the timer this morning, and laughed.

Hey thanks for the reply. Currently the glass is set to .98% transparency. I can boot it to 100%. Attached are screens of all those settings. The sofa (ironically) i did not model. I found it on google warehouse, and used it as is. It sorta fix the bill. The plants, pot. and rockers i found too. I j...

Found an error in the timer this morning, and laughed.

Friday, I set up a render and figured I'd remote in and shut it down after I got home. Well i totally forgot about it... This morning when i got into work, it was -still- going. lol. Well it occurred to me that your timer stops at 23 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds. I'm sure it effects nothing at al...

Re: Two-Point Perspective

Sounds great. I wasn't sure if the two point perspective and parallel projection were tied in together or not. Guess they are.

By no means did i assume that this was an easy change/addition either! I hope you guys can make it work! :)

Two-Point Perspective

We use two-point perspective for a lot our of sketchup presentations. I noticed when getting ready to some test renders, that option doesn't appear to be supported. I presume this is because parallel projection is not supported (yet). Is this a correct statement? Still love the product, is this some...

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

I think i understand.

There is no real way to adjust it in Photoshop to get what im looking for.

The Skydome are spot on what i was thinking though. I'll give those a go. I'll start looking for some even higher resolution ones.

Thanks again,
as always your support is incredible!

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

Ok. So if i wanted to use one of these sky maps, i still load it in like it's an environmental map - right? then i pan around and locate it? Do you know how would i would manipulate the image if i wanted to see more of sky and clouds (zoom the sky out a bit)? My attempts at modifying the image faile...

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

Sure. I downloaded it. It says I'm now on version 2.56 I can now pan vertically and adjust i beyond where it was locked into. This is nice! Thanks! since i now have a limited understanding of how environmental maps work - i have a few questions. You had mentioned in another thread there was a size r...

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

hm well i say that, but hen i tried "Sky_povray" and it went way below the horizon line. so i'm stumped as to how it's locating it vertically.

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

i understand how it located the environment map now vertically... it's based on the horizon line. My problem is that i need to lower the horizon plane artificially.

i suppose the only option would be to push my model higher in the sky.

Yeah, i was browsing them earlier. I found one i liked, but the angle was off too much, you could see the grass above the railing. lol.

thanks again for your help!

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

Hm.... My glass panes... There are only 2 planes. A front and back plane. I paint the "sides" of the glass like the window frame. So my glass is literally just 2 panes, with 4 sides. Perhaps that is part of my problem. I'll look into the environmental map. And thanks for the compliment :) ...

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

My door is a "unit". The glass panes are not inside the model. i can change that. Currently both faces are painted with the glass texture. I believe the glass is set to 1" thick. It would have been double insulated glass. so maybe i need to offset each face in 1/4" again for 4-fa...

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

Ok, this took longer - but it definitely looks better.

11m 15s - 85 samples.

working on it, and learning a lot. I used a refraction IOR of 3 for my glass and it seems to have helped alot.

Re: Artificial Lights and ceilings

Ok, i made the glass 100% reflective, turned on shadows (who would have thunk?) and then set my light to be a color (255,254,232).

It's rendering now, taking alot longer (4mins 167 samples) and its half pixelated. very strange. but i guess that's how it's generated.

it's still crunching away.

Artificial Lights and ceilings

Well i have my artificial lights in place, but i was expecting some "bounce" to my ceiling to somewhat illuminate that. Also, i'm not seeing any reflection in my glass, and i have verified that they are facing the correct way. i decided to make this it's own thread as i did not want to clu...

Re: Environmental Map not working as expected

I have not. But i just did. It stretched the image vertically and did some weird stuff there. I'll have to play with it some. it might be easiest for me to locate it in sketchup as a plane anyway. Now i know how an environmental map works. Since i did not before, i wasn't getting what i was expectin...

Re: Environmental Map not working as expected

I can attach them, but you've answered my question and told me what to do. I'll need to use this image in sketchup as a background. It's not the same type of image as an environment map. The pixel requirement's is probably causing a problem as well. Now that i understand the requirements, i wont spe...

Re: Environmental Map not working as expected

The image i was using was 8000x1205. i double sized it even higher than that, saved it as both a JPG and a TIFF. I still got a grey box instead of an image on both attempts. So then i tried to open the HDR file in Photoshop. Saved it as a TIFF file (JPG was not an option) and then tried to load that...

I downloaded one of those HDR images that you linked in the other thread, and those worked as i would have expected. Why does a JPG not work the same way?

Environmental Map not working as expected

Hey, I decided to play around with the environmental map the other day. I found a nice grassy area i could use for my model. I tried to put it in and was left with a grey box. I tried a few different images and got different results each time. For example: http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=67...
