Re-activation

Can some one please help me figure out the problem am having.
I downloaded the latest version and installed on a new pc running windows 8.1 and when i go to activate it stays as unlimited demo, I how ever deactivated from the older computer,
but now its even crashing on the new one, is this version not yet compatible with 8.1? the demo seems to have worked fine before i tried to enter the activation code.
Any thoughts????
