access violation

Post by jessda »

I'm getting an "access violation" when trying to save a rendering. Is there a work around to save this image or do I need to reinstall the software and lose the rendering?

Can you give me more specifics? Are you trying to save the render settings, the render data or the image output? What format are you saving the image as? Did you first stop the render? if you have any screen shots, it would help.

I am trying to save the image. I tried it both ways, stopping the rendering process and just hitting the save button. See screen shot. Thanks for your help.

I wasn't aware that I could change the format of the image. A save dialog box doesn't come up where i have any options. The error message is as far as I can get.

What is the OS you use (it looks old!)? and is this the first time you try to save the image? a save dialog box should come up, asking you for the file name and the file format.

Windows 8. I have exported several images but none have been as high of resolution.

Weird, because it doesn't matter the size of the image, in fact, the "save as" dialog box comes up before any image processing is done! Can you stop the render and wait until it shows "Ready" in the status because from your screen shots, it shows "Rendering" even if the "Start" button is enabled!!

I tried that several times with no success. I rendered the image again overnight at 4800 pixels wide and it allowed me to save it. I wonder if I was just maxing out my computer trying to save the 5400 pixel wide image.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that "Rendering..." in the lower left corner ever went away after I stopped the rendering process. Probably also evidence that I was maxing out my machine?

Yes it would max out. Can you try and wait a few minutes for the render to stop? you can restart it after. It's a big output you are rendering.
