Animation

I have set up 2 scenes, with the sun in a certain position. But when I go to render an animation, those positions change totally. I have tried resetting the sun and creating new scenes, but the program always defaults back to those same coordinates for the Azimuth and Rotation degrees for the sun. What am I doing wrong?

actually, it works when using the date/time to set the sun position but not when using azimuth and elevation.

OK I'll try that.... but do I get the same amount of control using date/time?
Thanks for your prompt response incidentally. :D

Yes you will. The reason it doesn't work with the azimuth/elevation is because it is not recorded for the scene and the transition would be wrong, but using date/time, it can transition in steps from one date/time to another.

Actually, I think we'll have to implement an override the date/time to favor the azimuth/elevation because if you want to keep the same elevation and simply rotate the sun from lets say, north to south, it can not be done with just the date/time because if sunset/sunrise from the time of day.

I just PM you the update for the Animation (it also include many fixes and enhancements). The way the sun works now is if you use the Azimuth/Elevation, it will use that, otherwise it will use the Date/Time. To know with is used, ** will be prefixed in the title, like **Sun Position or **Date/Time so the one with the ** is what it will use.

Thank you. Inputs for AZ & EL now lock from scene to scene, so problem fixed. And I note the double asterisk to signal which option I have used, time or coordinates. Thank you for such prompt and personalised service. It is unbelievable that you are able to do this so quickly, and actually have the courtesy to get it to me. It's a rare thing. It has assisted me greatly for a project that I am working on at present. Many thanks again. Love the program.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but the beta update you sent has introduced a problem for me.
The animations change luminance, particularly in the shadow areas, and now give a flashing appearance when played back.
I've used the same .rof files from before, and the avis produced with 4.98 were stable luminance-wise... but with the update they shimmer.
All of the animations were produced using 11 samples per frame (which is fine for the cartoon style I am doing)... if I bump the sample size up to 80, the flashing diminishes but is still there.
Any ideas?

That's a problem that can't be fixed in Grain Free mode when using real shadows. Let me explain, in v4.98 it was reusing the previous frame data, so it worked fine, but when the animation include shadows from the Sun/Sky and the Sun moves (like from sunrise to sunset), that last frame data is no longer valid. So the Grain Free mode is not the way to go until we can find a way to make it work.

However, if you do not use the animated Sun, it'll work, so let me send you v4.99 again with the way the frame data is used from v4.98.

Thnx for quick reply... it's VERY late where I am, so must be very early where you are!
Unfortunately I am not using animated Sun. All coordinates are the same for each scene, but still getting flashing.
Should I install the new version you are sending?

I just sent you another update, I think we found the solution for the animated sun and we fixed some bugs like unexpected stop and a few other things, so install this one I just sent you.
