Shadow Control

Post by msa »

Hi,

Is there anyway of softening and lightening the shadows without turning the sun brightness up. Looking for softer lighter shadows on some renders, perhaps using a slider like a dimmer switch? I'm using an environment map for the sun position.

Picture attached, basic set up stage for massing before I start adding detail but the shadows are too unrealistic. I can probably find a workaround in Photoshop but I was just wondering.

Cheers and Merry Christmas

If you look at the shadows in the env map, they are very dark as well. You can use the Exposure in the post processing settings but it will affect everything. You can save the layers and use Photoshop to lighten the shadow layer. When you save the render output, it will ask if you want to also save the layers.
