Groups appear in render window

Post by msa » Wed Dec 20, 2017 10:06 pm

Hi Support,

This problem has just started to occur. A SU model is saved as a scene and opened in Raylectron. Groups hidden in SU, not present in the scene appear in the Raylectron render window? The SU scene is updated, the SU file is saved and I've tried opening and rendering the SU scene from within Raylectron...still hidden and even locked SU groups appear...? Baffling.

Regards

Mike

Have you made sure that the option "Section cuts" in the "Rendering" settings is set?

I don't have any section cuts in operation. I have groups of objects, the main building as a group for example and external planters as another group. I set a scene up in SU and hide the planters, just wanting to render the building. I create a scene and start Raylectron. The rendering starts and Raylectron shows the hidden planters as though they are part of the scene? Driving me crazy...I've had to save individual groups to different SU files to render different parts...this started happening first time last week.

I see what you mean. Raylectron does not hide groups that are hidden in a scene and visible in another because the scenes are used to animate the camera from one view to another. What you should do is create a layer that will be used to hide the objects you don't want visible and make that layer hidden in all your scenes (set the object layer to that hidden layer), then export it. Perhaps I'm missing something because you seem to imply that it use to work?

Thanks Support,

I'll try that now. The curious thing is it only started happening last week and I'm positive I've had to hide objects in the past..?

Keep you posted.

Yep, that's the solution. Put parts of the model onto separate layers and switch them on and off in SU to reveal them or otherwise in Raylectron. I don't tend to use layers in SU, preferring the Outliner option to show or conceal objects. funny how I've not come across this before...I must have had everything 'on' when I rendered.

Thanks for your help.

Looking forward to V5...could it possibly be released in 2018...? Enscape and Lumion are really pushing the boundaries now even on still images but I'd like to see Raylectron's possibilities pushed even further.

Merry Christmas

v5 will come in in 2018 for sure, and, it will not be like Lumion as they are using a game engine, fake shadows and plenty of vegetation too look good. Raylectron is a real render and v5 will be much better, faster and with object animation.

Thanks and Merry Christmas to you as well :)
