I give up! I can't find a description/ instructions for NetSpy in BW. How do I use it and what will it do for me?
Thanks

Simply select the network adapter you want to spy (if not already selected) and click on Start. Now, using any browser, go to a website and NetSpy will list all the files that page has loaded, images and all. That's all it does, spy your Internet activities. Click Stop when you're done, and in the Structure, download the files you need.

I have no options in the "interface to spy" drop down (its blank). I do have working network adapters on the computer with Win7 and BW5. I typically use the wifi. Does it monitor the wifi adapter? Does the wired interface have to be plugged in in order for BW to see it?

Thanks

Do you have the latest version of WinPCap (4.1.2)? If not, get it from http://www.winpcap.org/install/default.htm

It's possible that it will not find some interface, depend how old or how new! Should work with wifi as well.

Then my guess is that WinPCap does not recognize your network adapter!

:?:
I am a little baffeld - when I use the netspy and let it scan/spy with a regular expression, then I can see a long list of urls in the scanner.

I can add those to the scanner by chekking the 'Add to structure' box.

However this gives not just the 'pure' scanned url as result (the one I can see in the netspy) but the folderstructure.

I tryed to copy and paste all from the netspy result page, but this just seems to give me some mombojumbo instead of a long list of urls.

I just want the urls showed in the netspy scanner - not the complete structure linked around that url.

How do we accomplish that??

Kind regards

I don't see a way to copy dirrectly from the NetSpy list, weird, but I will have that fixed. For now, the way to do it is...

Click on the Export button in the Structure window, and export to a txt file, no referer. Export to your dekstop for example, as bw.txt

Now run a command prompt (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt) and change directory to your dekstop...

cd C:\Users\YourName\Desktop

now type the following to sort the file...

sort < bw.txt > bw_sorted.txt

Now edit bw_sorted.txt and delete all the lines up to the first http line, then everything after the last http line. Now you will have the whole list from NetSpy.

:) As always, I have to thank you for your super-fast support, event though I am a little dissappointed concerning the reply.

This is not a good way to solve this problem. It's way to tiredsome and not in the 'spirit' of a program that specializes in automazation.

However - it works ;) - and I have to be satisfied with this until we have a program update.

Kind regards

Yes, I understand that, but that's the best I can do for now. You are the only one to have ever requested this, that's why we never had it nor thought of it, but it is something that should be done, it's a list and we should be able to copy from it, so I'll have that done.
