Thanks!

I just used glass texture in the window. No portals.

v5 interior test

Really pushed v5 on this one. I love the results. Everything is better than ever. 400 passes. Ran faster than before. Bump seems more sensitive as well. I was using 20-80 for bump before, but only needed 5-10 for this one. Used an HDRI for background and lighting. No sun or sky. Lighting strictly fr...

Another v5 Render

Really loving the new sky controls and enhanced material and ray-tracing! I can also see a big difference in shadows.

First test v5 night scene

Again, original used an HDRI for night sky and illumination.

Turned off Environment map and just used the built in sky controls for this new render. Full moon with sky and moon illumination set very low.

I'll need some more practice with the new sky controls, but I love it.

First test of v5

Oops. I thought I posted this last night. My bad. ;)

This scene originally used an HDRI for the sky and illumination. I turned off the Environmental map and just used the new sky settings in v5.

Re: First sky test of v4.99

Looks really good, I like it a lot. Thanks! Even with taking the time to adjust the sky controls and run low number sample tests, it's still far faster than loading and rendering with an HDRI. Which means more final renders to choose from in a shorter amount of time. Love it! Thanks for asking me t...

Re: First sky test of v4.99

Another test trying to re-create the original render which used and HDRI (posted in this gallery in a seperate thread).

I think it came out close enough as to be no significant difference! (which is good!)

Support wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 12:00 am No fluffy clouds yet. It's very complicated to make already and to make fluffy ones is even more complicated and CPU intensive. We want to make it fast enough and not slow down the render to a crawl.
Makes perfect sense. What you have now is damn good as it is. Good job!

Re: First sky test of v4.99

I fiddled with the sky and cloud settings. Just tweaked until I liked the look.

Is there a way to make fluffy clouds? And add more shadow in the clouds?

Re: First sky test of v4.99

The spread is good but there are too many large bright ones. About half might work?

It could also use a couple of very small, very bright ones.

This is still pretty damn good, though! Wow!

Re: First sky test of v4.99

We're trying to make it easy. The ones you'll use the most is the sun elevation to make it closer to the horizon and the turbidity to make the color more orange and red, and the sun glare to make it not so much a sphere but a glowing sun. That's good to know. I had not thought of that! Thanks! I'll...

Re: First sky test of v4.99

Support wrote: Tue Mar 15, 2022 5:20 pm Nice. How do you like the new feature?
Great! This will save me time from having to import an HDRI for skies and gives me a lot more sky options!

It took me just a few minutes to find and figure out the controls, but overall, it's quite easy.

These were just quick test renders, BTW.
