Re: Question on slope grass
Hi Michael, That was great news. I just read your post. So when are we going to have real grass as oppose to faking it with a component? And how do we go about it? Yesterday I was trying to have grass growing amongst large size ground cover tiles, so imagine lots of 24"x24" ground cover ti...

Re: Question on slope grass
Thank you guys both. This would be quite helpful as soon as I find some time reading them. Still trying to make sense of a set of CAD drawings for that huge mansion. I just default rendered a partial basement level.

Re: Question on slope grass
Great rendering in the other posting and thank you for the link. It is a pretty nice source. Are you a premium member yourself? Also where can you share your way of creating normal maps for any texture?
Thanks again and great work.

Re: SU plugin for making ornamental
Hi Michael, Sorry, I think I posted the wrong one. However I don't have a 3d model of the decorative ornament. If I had the model or different ornament models, I probably wouldn't be asking for a possible script. What we drew in the cad drawings were just a 2d version of what I could remember the ac...

Re: SU plugin for making ornamental
Hi Michael, Since working on the same object( doors and ornaments), I thought posting this here also. Here is my issue which might be very simple but I thought i should ask first. I assigned a wood material to the door frames and moldings and its rather a darker color as you can see in the SU materi...

Re: SU plugin for making ornamental
That could be one way of doing it but it is not an exact method since you can only be exact on the scale factor and not on what fillet radius or bevel setting your final model would have and since the dimensions are small already, sometimes the filleting or beveling delete part of the model. Michael...

Re: SU plugin for making ornamental
Yes, in some cases if the shape is made up of closed lines and constitute a closed area, then we can just push/pull the shape and apply the beveling to it which of course is a tedious job again considering there are lots of them. However if the rest of the ornament is made up of relatively small cur...

Re: SU plugin for making ornamental
It can be any series of curved lines or shapes that make a motif around doors or windows or can also be applied to wall surfaces as ornaments or decorative moldings. Just like the first image I posted around the round window or both sides of the double door. We drew those lines and just mirrored the...

Re: SU plugin for making ornamental
Yes. Exactly that, so each line represents the center line of the extruded shape or as you put it "elevated" shape so any curved line or straight for that matter, once clicked gets extruded/elevated vertical to the applied surface(in this case the wall), and the final shape now has a thick...

Re: Found an error in the timer this morning, and laughed.
Nice renderings. Thanks for sharing. And yes a "Select render Area" option would be a great add to have. It would be nice if it can just right click on the model view (model tab) and select "select render area". Also got a question for both of you: Is there a SU plugin for making...

Re: Environmental Map not working as expected
Ok. So the use is basically to set up the interior shots. I thought that you set your views first by orbiting the model exterior and when you find a desired view form the outside using Sketchup transparency, then you can go to XRay Level box on the left side of the dialog and put in the number of wa...

Re: Environmental Map not working as expected
Hi Michael, Are you talking about making a cylinder and delete the top and bottom? Then we are left with just a vertical tube shape. Is that what you are talking about and if yes, then do you put your scene inside that circle? Also I noticed the little box for wiremesh and XRay in Raylectron dialog ...

Re: Raylectron "Model View" at startup
Hi Michael, Could you also share the water texture with me? That looks really nice. I am so happy to see the the works on Raylectron's own materials. I'll mess around a bit with the settings you posted. Can't wait to see the final ones as ready made textures. Thanks much Michael, @David- Nice model....

Error message installing v2.56
Michael, I just downloaded v2.56 and installed it and it gave me an error message again. I remember you posted 2.56 for me few weeks ago and I got the same error message. This time though the Sketchup was not open or anything. I'll try to install it again. Here is the error message. Just re-installe...

Re: Raylectron's materials
Great news Michael, I can't wait until I can assign Raylectron's own materials. SU's materials are ok but they don't have materials like Ready chrome, Brass or likes of these as we discussed earlier. So that would be nice.
Thanks again,
Thanks again,

Hi Michael,
Any news on getting Raylectron's own materials yet? You mentioned that it was in the works, so any idea when it/they would be available?

Re: Organic Shapes within SU or Imported
Michael, what is a UPEK Fingerprint Reader Suite? I should Google this since I've never heard of it. I don't think I have any of the one you've mentioned so far. I am pretty sure it has something to do on my side or else some users would have that issue also. I'll go through my unistalled programs t...

Re: Organic Shapes within SU or Imported
Hi Michael, The modeling view is nice and fast now but the zooming in and out still very very slow. Where it shows the view size in the lower right of the dialog, I noticed a GL in the parenthesis, but then it disappeared. Also there is no difference between Fit to view and Automatic. The error mess...

Michael,
I have no idea what Control-C hit. means. My left hand is not on the keyboard or anything. So I don't press any keys. Here is a simple movie just trying to show what I do when i get the message.

Re: Organic Shapes within SU or Imported
Michael- Thanks for assuring me that the latest version would work on my machine. I was hesitant at first because I didn't want to go through the whole thing again. But I did install it and now what I found out: The speed of the rendering is faster and for some reason better quality, however I still...

Re: Organic Shapes within SU or Imported
Thanks Michael, SU was closed when I reinstalled Raylectron. When opened up SU file, I could only see Material editor dialog under View menu, but not the reversing command under the tool menu. then I uninstalled again for the 10th time and did a complete reboot again and reinstalled 2.493 and so far...
