Re: God's Ray-jet/rocket engine tutorial
You can thank Air Force for that. You'd think at least with a multi-billion dollar budget they could afford to have much better loan equipment for us poor sods at the front line!

Re: Carrier Battle Group of the IUSP
Adjust the camera angle? That simple? I can't believe I had to ask for that. And didn't think of it myself. I have to say, now I am frustrated with myself! Don't worry, you're not Robinson Crusoe on this, it has been a huge learning curve for me as well. :salute :...

Re: Carrier Battle Group of the IUSP
The Peleliu is set in the water to the boot topping (the painted demarcation between the upper hull and keel). And the camera angle set to lift that white line, or lower it I should say, below the visible. You can move your model around in render by holding the centre mouse key down.

Re: Interior lighting of large structures- Tutorial
It can work well almost anywhere Okwa. If say the bow of your ship is of an abnormal shape, or you have a lot of junctures or cavities; create small rooms in the vicinity of your windows, boxes essentially and all will be well.

Re: Interior lighting of large structures- Tutorial
That works pretty well. But the result also depends on the design. I tried this method on the two ships I posted yesterday, the freighter and the destroyer. The command deck of the destroyer is a nice straight deck. The method works fantastically there. The freighter's command deck is a bit twisty,...

Re: Interior lighting of large structures- Tutorial
oh I believe it, with work in the AF and all the details you put into it, no surprise here, but again, that's like 6 years ago, I would have lost my patience long ago! I'm thankful for the genes, patience is from Dad, not Mum in this case  Now I finally understand how you managed to get such a...

Re: Interior lighting of large structures- Tutorial
Then group your entire model as one group. Light-5.jpg Open Raylectron and test it. Most often you'll need to 'reverse faces' of the globe. snow_globe.png Now we see how it all works. For this I created a very simple warehouse with a few windows. This structure is 200x200m and 60m high. Quite large ...

Interior lighting of large structures- Tutorial
One of the issues that faces a lot of 3D modelers is the lighting of large structures and for that lighting to be seen from the outside, say through windows, in a realistic manner. Now like many of us who at times goes overboard with detail, often when creating one of my models, ( which yes I know i...

Re: God's Ray-jet/rocket engine tutorial
This is an example whereby the exhaust emitter exit isn't as straight forward and you do want people to see some detail. What I did with this was dial the settings right down, way down and then let the rendering run for a few hours to sort it out. When first turned on, the God's Ray was all over the...

Ah well, negative thoughts, hmmm, yes there is one. Charlie loves his leaf blower, especially on Sunday mornings. I hate that bloody thing! Otherwise its all good. <3    I hate these bloody things too, my neighbor uses it in winter too to blow the snow off his huge driveway!!!,...

Re: God's Ray-jet/rocket engine tutorial
As long as the feeling is mutual and that there are no negative thoughts, that makes it perfect for the both of you because you both have to put up with each other's Love, and that's ought to be a beautiful feeling. Ah well, negative thoughts, hmmm, yes there is one. Charlie loves his leaf blower, ...

Now we need to place the cylinder in our engine and finally test it.
And the test. You can clearly see my settings here.
Happy emitting!

Re: God's Ray-jet/rocket engine tutorial
Once that is done, we'll create our jam tin that will become your emitter. I've made this just slightly smaller than my exhaust opening, at 2.2m diameter and 0.9 metres long. cylinder 1.jpg After creating the cylinder, I've group the front face, then moved it back 0.8m cylinder 2.jpg Finally adding ...

God's Ray-jet/rocket engine tutorial
Like many of us who are deeply immersed in our fandom's that require us to spend countless hours building our ships; we often tend to go over board when creating those little tubes at the back to drive those ships. You might have found that by simply slapping a disc in the end of your engine, didn't...
