backing trax

Post by music_lover » Mon May 14, 2012 10:39 am

'Morning!

Wondering if you could help me grab all the .mp3 files which (I believe) live in subdirectories here: http://standardstrax.zftp.com/

This is an example of a link that should work: http://standardstrax.zftp.com/FEMALEMP3 ... _C.000.mp3

Thanks! 8-)

I can't find any links to MP3s on that site! The page looks like a default page when someone just get a new hosting, and, trying thr sub-dir of the mp3 example gives a forbidden access error!

Well, that doesn't help. That means we can't find the files! But how did you get that one file?

I know... I wish I had more information for you guys!

That one track was paid for... problem is there's a part in the middle that makes it unusable for my needs and there's no money-back offer. This makes me suspect of other downloads. The quality is great but sometimes not to my tastes. I'd like to download all the tracks and see which ones I like... I'm absolutely willing to pay for those ones.

Is there any way to move forward with this?

Well, since the site doesn't provide any clues as to what the file names are, or any links to them, there is nothing we can do. But if you know the file names, then yes, we can do something. BUT, I was able to get this...

http://standardstrax.zftp.com/MALESTAND ... ATALOG.txt
http://standardstrax.zftp.com/JAZZVILLE.txt
http://standardstrax.zftp.com/MALEGIGSVILLEdemos.txt
http://standardstrax.zftp.com/FEMALEGIGSVILLEdemos.txt
http://standardstrax.zftp.com/FEMALESTA ... ATALOG.txt
http://standardstrax.zftp.com/CHRISTMASTRACKS.txt

Maybe there is a way to get the file names from the above links?

Hmmm.... VERY VERY interesting.

This might just be a game of naming conventions.

Unfortunately, what I thought were logical conclusions in this regard (i.e. if "You'll Never Know version 1 - C" is named "http://standardstrax.zftp.com/FEMALEMP3 ... _C.000.mp3" then ""You'll Never Know version 2 - C" should probably be named ""http://standardstrax.zftp.com/FEMALEMP3/YOU'LLNEVERKNOW2_C.000.mp3" or "http://standardstrax.zftp.com/FEMALEMP3/YOU'LLNEVERKNOW2_C.001.mp3" or "http://standardstrax.zftp.com/FEMALEMP3/YOU'LLNEVERKNOW2_C.200.mp3") don't wuite pan out... The naming convention, if there is one, could be anything!

I feel we've (or should I say 'you've') made progress here. Any other thoughts on how we might move forward?

Further to my last post, I am wondering if the 3-digits just before the file extension might be random (or random-ish) and if brute force (i.e. trying to download 000 through 999 might work)

Thanks!

I did try all 000-999 and came up with nothing!

Can't get anything from /FEMALEMP3/ as the server will not allow to view its content.

If you can find a few mp3 that works, then we can start seeing a pattern on how this works.
