Where have all te options gone??

BlackWidow scans websites (it's a site ripper). It can download an entire website, or download portions of a site.

Where have all te options gone??

Post by iainhu »

Where are the options of old gone in v6? I recall older copies of BW allowing me to define max depths to crawl, whether to follow external links and if so how far, what to do with JS links and a whole hst of things. Now I seem to have options for nothing but 'Download while scanning', max number of threads and 'Slow down scanning'. Where's everything else gone?

Evertthing else has be incorporated as automatic, and if you need special filtering, we added the "Expert" filters where you can script what you need, or let us know and we will do it for you.

Okay thanks. I see the idea now. I guess this can get pretty powerful.

What triggered this was veryifying a site that was using JS links. Quite why people think a good old a href isn't good enough and they have instead to rely on JS I'm not sure, but anyway, BW was following some links and no others. Remembering something fromolder versions about treatment of JS links, I went looking...only couldn't find anything!

Using the Filter's Modify Document setting, you can easily conver the js links into href links. If you have a page you want to do it on, post part of it here where the js links shows and I'll show you the filters for it.
