Facebook widget fool BlackWidow

BlackWidow scans websites (it's a site ripper). It can download an entire website, or download portions of a site.

Facebook widget fool BlackWidow

Post by iainhu »

Having just installed 6.29 this behaviour seems a little better than in 6.28, but I am still finding Facebook widgets 'fool' BlackWidow.

So I put in my target URL - in this case http://www.greeksails.com/ - and the page renders in the BW 'Browser', but the page is parsed and the 'Address' changes to http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect/xd_p ... ?version=3 - which is being picked up from some of the FB 'Like' JS widget. If I now start the scanner, it will scan from the FB address, not the address I want to scan.

So to get things to work, I need to enter the address and very specifically not hit enter/preview the crawl start page.

Interestingly Twitter, Google and LinkedIn widgets don't cause the same problem.../Iain

Yes, we noticed this as well. The proper URL should be restored once the page has loaded, that is, when the Stop iocn is grayed out. But if it doesn't, then as you said, re-enter the URL in the address bar and do not press Enter. Sites with iFrame and ads are the worst!
