Comparator 5.12 Error Message & Crash

Recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10. Now when I start Comparator and try to go to one of my presets I get this error "Access violation at address 00007FFB19DFD20F in module 'shell32.dll'. Read of address 0000000005710070." Then after a minute or so Comparator stops working.

Would appreciate any help figuring out and solving this problem.

Thanks!

Until a fix is found, can you set the properties for Win8 compatibility and even run as admin.

I am running the program as administrator. Also have tried XP, Vista, Win 7, & Win 8 compatibility modes. Same result with all.

This one crashes when I try to open a drive or directory. Also had the program open and inserted a flash drive and it crashed.

When I choose the run Compapator option at the end of installation I get the attached error message.

As before when I choose the run Compapator option at the end of installation I get the unable to execute file... error message. If I run the installer as an administrator that doesn't happen.

This version starts up okay after I give UAC the okay to run it (unknown publisher). However, the presets do not work. Also, if I use the file trees to select the directories It will scan them okay but the copy and detete boxes are greyed out.

Sorry for the delay.

Thank you for your support.

Les

We'll check the installer and fix it and so the presets. As for the grayed out buttons, did you first select something? because if you do not, it would assume all of the files and that is dangerous!

Yes, I selected files to copy/delete but that had no effect on the greyed out buttons.

This one seems to work okay.

There is one small oddity. The first preset I choose after I start the program doesn't work. Instead of going to the preset directory it goes to the top of the list (image-1). After that the presets work correctly (image-2) but for some reason shows my USB drive (F:) twice on the right side.

In the end it does the comparison correctly and I can copy and delete as needed.
