Buffer Error
Buffer Error
Hi helpers,
i get this Error when i want to load material settings from a prevoius Render.
I always have to start from scrap when i make a small change to my model.
Also - i cant find a "undo" button when i render. if i change a material and i am not happy i have to start from scrap again. There must be a "one step back" button?
Any help, Thx, Patrick

Re: Buffer Error
Maybe because your texture is too big, that's why you get that error. Have you tried the new v4.79 CPU version instead of the GPU version? It is grain free and is much faster and much more photorealistic.
Unfortunately, we did not implement an undo because there are so many internal things that happen when you change a texture. I will try to have it made anyway.

Re: Buffer Error
Hi, Thanks for your help.
You might remember, i got a new PC just for Rendering with the Grafikcard you recomended - so going "back" to the CPU version dosent make me smile to much.
Any thoughts?
Thx, Patrick

Re: Buffer Error
Now I remember yes. Can you PM me your model so I can try it see where the problem is?
v5 will use both at the same time and will use the GPU for mathematical stuff that doesn't use much memory.

Re: Buffer Error
You made my day!
i will wait fir V5, any idea when it will be out?
thx, Patrick

Re: Buffer Error
It will be in a few months. From what I can see, you do not have many faces so it has to be a texture. Try to keep your texture size around 512x512, you most have one that is huge, giving you that error.

Re: Buffer Error
so i have been doing some testing.
i made a very small model, just a wall with one emitter - no texture. i get the same error.
i downloaded the 4.79 CPU version - and all works, i can load settings from other models without problem - just the rendering is crazy slow.
so it must be a problem with my GPU version?
Thanks, Patrick

Re: Buffer Error
Can you run TeamViewer.com so I can connect with you because a small model should never give you that error. Was your CPU version running with "Grain free" turned on?

Re: Buffer Error
so here i am, new year but the same Problem
what i found out, if i use the software in the CPU mode i can load settings from previos renders. but on a middle size render i get 1 sample per second, with the GPU version i get like 10 per second.
what i do step for step:
i save the .rof file in my raylectron folder.
then in the software i open: load settings from.. then i open the folder where the previos file i want to take the settings from is saved. this is a .cfg file
then i get the problem why i opend this thread. but only with the GPU version
so, whats my next step
Thanks, patrick
EDIT - did some testing again - in the GPU versio i cant check the version. nothing shows up. GPU: when i press auto detect i get this: and then this error. could this be my problem?

Re: Buffer Error
Hi,
The samples in the CPU is not the same as the GPU. The CPU version is grain free so it should look much better faster than the GPU, does it for you?
When you load the settings in the GPU version, do you first stop the render?

Re: Buffer Error
Hi!
ok, i will test that tomorrrow. but i know i dont have the best computer for the CPU version - thats why i got the expencive Videocard.
yes, i do stop the render when i try to load settings.
thanks, patrick

Re: Buffer Error
yes I remember now. ok, let me check the GPU version see why it's got that error, we'll fix it and I'll PM you the fix for you to try.

Re: Buffer Error
We've ran tests and found no problems so I'm not sure here what's going on. Can you reset the GPU by holding down the ctrl key while you open it? When you load the settings manually, do you first stop the render? and perhaps put it in "Performance" mode first so it loads the settings faster. If all fails, can I connect with you using team viewer?
