Stargate Ships fanmade-Lighting test

Post by GateGirl86 »

This is my second attempt at using the Raylectron 'Moon' backdrop and the associated lighting. I did little to change the default values, other than playing around with the sizes. I think the end results show how easy it is to get a great image.

This is looking really, really nice. Just like in space, the illumination at all on the dark sides. So many details too. Good job.

A lovely compliment, thank you. And you know I could have done it without your very special moon effect.

I do have a question. How do you, or can you get the effect of a headlight shining in darkness. I need it for the nose wheel landing light on one of my projects.

For the headlight to shine in darkness, that means space would have to be filled with gas, otherwise there is nothing for the beam to reflect from.

Does that apply to 'glow' ?

This is my image of a F302 coming into land. I wanted the navigation lights to look more glowy

wow, this is nice! For the lights, glow comes from matter, since there is no matter in space, there can be no glow! However, this is something we are working on for the next release, a new setting for lights to create glow as if there was smoke so to speak, even if there are none.

That makes sense, although in reality the image is depicted as landing within atmosphere, ie on the ground.

So the update would be really great to have!

And thank you! :D
