A day at the Alpha Site

Post by GateGirl86 »

It's not always work at the SGC Alpha Site. There are some days when you're allowed to just kick back.

Thank you so much Michael. <3 <3

While I am sort of happy with it, I think the water could be better. Charlie (hubby) said it looks a bit like bubble wrap  I kind of agree with him.

That's because he knows it's a render LOL, but look at aerial photos of the ocean and it looks like bubble wrap too LOL

That's because the camera is much closer to the ground. You have to remember that the normal map repeats and at higher altitude, you will start to see the pattern repeat.

What I might end up doing is add a new menu item just for the ground where you can select ocean or desert and I will code it to no use a normal map and simply generate the waves on the fly without repetition.

That would be very handy for the models I do, as they are 99% always at height

:salute

Try this normal map instead, download it and in Raylectron material editor click on the normal map (the blue looking one) and select this one, I think you'll like it very much.

I convert to sea waves as usual and then changed the normal map for the one above and use the same settings as with the old, just had to increase the scale and bump, that's all I did. I do it in performance mode first to get it close to what I want, it's faster that way.

My car is stuck  I'm working in a new feature in Raylectron, you'll be able to fill the ground or landscape with anything you like...

Yes. You can make your own assets to use, for example, you can make or find a model of a rock and use that to fill the ground of the landscape of the model. You can use anything, even starships

I'll have to start making my own rocks. Sketchup as stopped supporting older versions now on the Warehouse, so I can't download any models. Seems like a totally weird thing to do, 2017 isn't that old  My car is older and the dealer still services it.
