Wonderful, thank you Michael. I only brought it up because I show my stuff to friends at the base and I didn't want the so called experts to go 'wtf'?

Ah, I love that. When I eventually finish my new 304, I'd like to have that in the hangar bay.

I take it from the ....
you weren't all that happy with it? Did you watch it ?

The boxed lights are casting a shadow across the entire scene and that graininess just wasn't there before. In fact the last one you did, was graphically perfect. Just the big square lights ....sorry Michael, I know you're doing this as a favour for me, but I can't use that at all. I think this one has to go in the too hard basket.

I thought it was cool all the shadows from the sun being so low, but that's me. I really have no clue as to what you're looking for, so I do what looks good to me. I don't know where you want the sun to be, what kind of look you're after etc. so I do it "for me" for you

The first one, I mean not the very first one, but the last one of this version was so much better. There was no 'grain' and it was only the boxed lights that was letting it down.

With the lights, as I mentioned earlier, they are in fact much smaller and round. If you look at my original SKP you'll get an idea, I modeled those off the one's here at Richmond AFB. The sun is perfect, but with much smaller lights, you'd not see the shadows, or hardly at all. Perhaps is it possible to project a much smaller shadow?

oh, I deleted your lights, they're made of zillions of components, bolds and all kinds of stuff that we'll never see unless up close, even the screw that goes into the tube is useless, and it has threads too, that's for manufacturing not rendering lol For rendering animations, you want to keep those details to a minimum, so basically, you can remove all internal parts, and keep only the visible faces and make it a group (not a component, it's not a moving object) without anu other components or groups, except for the emitter, and if there are 2, make it one, meaning, don't group each one, just group both into one. Duplicating it will be very fast for the render. If you want to make them run as I did, duplicate it to have 9 or so of them, then set a unique material for each one, so then, you'll have 9 unique groups and duplicating them will only make instances of them, like the Assets do. This way, it will minimize unnecessary processing of components. If you make your model according to this rule, it will be way faster to make the animation video. Do the same for the ship, don't keep anything inside that will never be visible. They way you have it now is way too much details inside and it just adds to the processing of the animation. PM me your SKP and I'll strip it down so you can have an idea what I mean, and even on your CPU, you'll see a big improvement in speed. But for now, let me redo the render...

That was just to get your attention. Quite opposite to what Peter DeLuise said in X-Treme, when he said 'bigger!', here we need 'smaller'

And roger that. :salute

I always thought that bigger was better  so I made those lights a foot long  that is, one foot square because I wanted to see the effects.

In most cases yes

To give you an idea, here is a very rough draft.

The video is private so I can't see it, it should be set to Unlisted instead.

Yes thank you. I need to get a grip on doing the credits, the font is way too big and it isn't running smoothly.

I don't know if this one is any better since I fotgot to make the box lights round and to completely get rid of the grain, it has to run for much longer.

Leave the lights, they do look great now! If we could get rid of the grain that would be perfect. Oh, the very first one you did, the 302 disappeared into the never never. For the effect, we can leave the gear up where it is, even though a rookie pilot would get shot for that. Most pilots these days take the gear up almost as soon as they are off the ground. :salute <3 We are getting there!

I don't remember "the very first one"

So redo the render with the wheels in rookie style and get rid of the grains?

The grains yes, gotta go
Leave the wheels as they are, because at least the viewer can see that motion. If we did it as it should, we wouldn't be able to see how cool that was. <3 :salute

ok, so all I'll do is get rid of the grains? For that, I'll have to turn off the 3 lights you have on the bow wheel.

hmm, can you just make them white knobs without illumination, so at least they still look like lights? Or maybe just glass?

Oh, the very first video was the one I used in that draft.

Sure can :salute

We still see the grain on the white strips though but the not ship. It didn't have the wheel's scripts either, so it was faster to render.
