candle/fire glow experiment
candle/fire glow experiment
While cleaning up my PC today, I came across an old project on my hard drive that I must not have worked on for 10 years. A model of an ancient Roman town house, a domus. The model is actually a disaster, so full of errors that I should actually delete the model and start from scratch. But I had an idea for an experiment. The model is sufficient for a dark night scene. I wanted to see if I could create and adjust a light source so that a kind of candle or fire glow would appear. Certainly the "flames" would have to be smaller, they are exaggeratedly large. Basically, however, I am satisfied.
Interest half, whether the angle of view makes a difference, as it sometimes does, I rendered two pictures. You can't see any difference (except that I rendered the second image an hour later and forgot to remember the light settings. That's why the moonlight is set differently in the second picture ).

This is really stunning At first, I thought, who posted pictures here, this is a rendering forum, then, before I delete the post, I looked at the name of whom posted and it was you , then started to read what it was about. Wow, great work Okwa

Re: candle/fire glow experiment
Too much praise. I have since rendered a version in which the flames are only 25% the size of the flames in the first two images. You can see the result below.
I don't know. The last time I heard from her was three days ago. I'm sure she's just busy in RL. Young children and especially infants demand attention.

Thank you. It was only a small experiment. But I am satisfied. Now I'm thinking about whether I should try to correct the errors in the original model. Or whether I should delete the old model and start again? In any case, I would like to see my "town house" finished and rendered.GateGirl86 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 2:14 am This is just plain beautiful, nothing less.

Well it was an experiment that paid off. I'm glad you did it and I'd be just fine tuning it as it isOkwa wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 4:39 am

This model of a Domus is more than 10 years old. And back then I did so many things wrong. To "renovate" this house will be a difficult task. Well, we grow with the challenges, as they say.GateGirl86 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 1:12 pm Well it was an experiment that paid off. I'm glad you did it and I'd be just fine tuning it as it is

Some of my models that I've been rendering lately are as old as that. You just have to say 'yes' I can do this.

I sent you and @Okwa the RBZ download link. Now I'll explain how to use it in another thread coming in a few minutes.

Re: candle/fire glow experiment
Very impressive @Okwa
Re: candle/fire glow experiment
The third shot with the smaller flame looks really good.
Re: candle/fire glow experiment
@BKilburn Indeed. I agree with you completely. I'm already working on a picture of the front of the house and the front garden at night.
