A month ago I posted my revised version of the Daedalus-Class, the BC-304 Mk XVII Daedalus-Class. Of course, then the sister class of the Daedalus-Class, the Icarus-Class, must also be revised. I had already done that, but I forgot to post the corresponding image . This will be done today.
So on this image you can see a close-up of a HC-308 Mk XIII Icarus-Class. The previous Icarus-Class design, as with the Daedalus-Class, remains "canonical" to my AU as the previous Mk XII version.
As with the Daedalus-Class, the Icarus-Class is now equipped with through deck hangar pods. This, along with the F-302's new design, makes it possible to take more than twice as large a complement on board. Instead of half a squadron, the Mk XIII carries an entire squadron of F-302s plus four MEV-29 "Ant" shuttles.
Of course, with the change in hangar pods, the engine arrangement had to be adjusted, similar to the Daedalus-Class. The Icarus-Class received the new engine models of the Mk XVII Daedalus-Class. Along with some minor modifications such as additional armor plates, the Icarus-class eventually became the last ship in the Tau'ri design tradition to receive weapons on its underside. This also eliminated this flaw from the TV series on the Icarus-Class.
As part of the process of fitting weapons systems to the underside, both the Mk XII Icarus-Class and the Mk XVII Daedalus-Class were fitted with additional missile launchers. On the Icarus-Class, four ion cannons were replaced with missile launchers. While this slightly reduces the short-range armament, it is compensated by a massive increase in the number of weapons in the medium and long-range ranges.
Oh yes, almost forgot. The previous BMT REMS-46 Ancient-Drone Launcher has been replaced by the REMS-52 launcher model, a change I also made to the Daedalus-Class but forgot to mention. The 52 model has launchers for 50 instead of 22 Halevi Corp. IM-A-FW surface-to-surface missiles or BMT RE-Ancient drone Mk I. The two revised cruisers thus carry more than twice as many of these missiles. In this way, the cruisers' short- to medium-range weapons capability has been increased. In the case of the Icarus-Cass, this also represents additional compensation for the removal of the four ion cannons.
The new armament now consists of:
4x Union Arms S-85 “Tomb” Standard Asgard Beam Emitter
6 xUnion Arms E3I21LRE “Roaring Thunder” Asgard Pulse Ion Cannon, cal. 180 mm
7x Es'audil Solutions GAS-2603 SJ Very Heavy Staff Cannon cal. 1400 mm (Three-gun turret)
8x Es'audil Solutions GAS-2602 T Heavy Staff Cannon cal. 900 mm
10x Es'audil Solutions GAS-2601 D Light Staff Cannon cal. 300 mm
10x Halevi Corp. SAPWCP-3H „Paragon“ Self-Propelled Heavy Rail Gun cal. 250 mm
6x Halevi Corp. CIRG-1414 „Bush Fire“ CIWS
20x BMT REMS-241 (Equipped per launcher with 6x Halevi Corp. IM-C-FW space-to-space missile or BMT RE-Ancient Drone Mk III)
12x BMT REMS-112 (Equipped per launcher with 6x Halevi Corp. IM-B-FW air-to-surface missiles or BMT RE-Ancient drone Mk II )
6x BMT REMS-52 launcher (Equipped per launcher with 50x Halevi Corp. IM-A-FW surface-to-surface missiles or BMT RE-Ancient drone Mk I)
20x VLS (Equipped per cell with: a single Halevi Corp. IM-D-FW interplanetary missiles or with slide-in starter container with 9x BMT Ancient Drone Mk III)
In case you're wondering why I'm posting this picture twice. I couldn't decide with which texture setting, with normal map or without, the water looks better. The spaceship is 1000 meters above the water. I think the lower image is more realistic, considering the altitude of the spaceship. But the upper image still looks better somehow. What do you say?

Re: Flight of the Icarus II
Wow, Chris, your redesigns of the Daedalus-Class and Icarus-Class ships are incredibly detailed! As for the texture setting on your image, I think the lower one looks more realistic given the altitude of the spaceship, as you said. Great job

Re: Flight of the Icarus II
Many thanks. It was not so much work. Just some detail work.
And thank you for your wonderful work. Without the Terrain Generator and the settings options in Raylectron, the image would not look so realistic.
