This file synchronizer will generate a report of all differences between two drives/folders. This includes any missing files, modified files, duplicate files and duplicate files with date conflicts. it is ideal when comparing for example, your work files against a backup to make sure the backup is up to date.
My wife has been using my old Windows 7 laptop to sort and rename numerous pictures she transferred from her phone and various flash drives. This laptop has Comparator v4.10 which she likes and things have been going fine for the past several weeks. This evening when she attempted to run Comparator with her backups she received the following error.
Access violation at address 0050A426 in module Comparator.exe. Read of address 000000000.
I tried a repair, uninstall and reinstall by the error persists and will not allow me to register and use the program.
then run Comparator see if this solves the problem. If not, can you run Comparator in admin mode (right click it, select run as admin).
I know Win 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft so it can't be an update, and since it worked last week, only you know if anything has changed since, like, something you installed maybe?
I deleted that registry key and still received the access violation error. I ran as Admin and the error persisted.
My wife has not made any changes....added or removed any programs. I usually do that task for her.
So I uninstalled v4.10 and installed v5.14 which works without any errors but only in Demo code. I cannot register since it does not appear to accept my Activation Code when attempting to register.
A System Restore to 4 days ago was successful and everything is working properly again. I encountered this Access Violation error several years ago and I believe I had to do the same thing. I suspect it's related to some glitch in the registry or something in the program trying to access a protected memory address.
