That's weird, maybe you didn't have Direct Illumination on? Sometimes it happens depending on the settings you have for the lights, and it re-select itself when a light setting changes.

You didn't have to render it that long. If you noticed, after just a few samples, there are no more notable differences, maybe 20 max is enough.

Glad it works now. But let me ask, do you like it better? Does it look better?

LOL! Yeah. Working on that. It's a low poly tree.

I'm going to keep experimenting with this file for the next month or so.

Remember my old Westminister Station render? That took a month for me to get right.

DI was on.

Oh yes, it looks far better. The improved quality of light is very noticeable to me as is the improved render speed. I had to change some of the artificial light emitter settings as they show far better as well. (I was "pushing" them a little too much compared to how it works now) The shadows also look even more real than before. The drop off of them seems more natural.

Love it! :salute

Great, I'm making another update that fixes the Shadow setting in the Illumination so that you can control the brightness of the shadows from portals and emitters.

oh yes, I remember that model lol I wonder how it would look now?

This tree is not your fault, low poly or not, the triangles are still the same and painted with that PNG. Are you using real shadows or ambient?

In the texture folder it created for your model, does the leaf PNG transparent background?

Yes. It only "blobs" when I use this light setting. (God Rays) If I use just fog, or mountains and sky or ground or any combination of those, it's fine.

But God Rays? Nope.

ah, let me check that right away. I used your CFG and everything is fine, except I don't get the dark blue that you have.

Do you mean God's Ray on the big light sitting above the tree?

Yeah, that's the one. I'm trying to recreate the effect of the original photo.

See, I know how it's done in real life. It's a big diffusion screen with a light behind it. In other words, the shot was staged. Which was the next thing I was going to try.

I turned on God's Ray (and for all the lights too) and the leaves are fine. Don't we have bug spray to make it easy?

Here's what I did with this one.

I moved the light to 50' above ground and away from the building so it's not on top of the tree. I set the God Ray to max but the distance to 50' Power to 35 and area to zero. Made the fog color darker and this is the result (all lights off except the outside light)...
