Ocean question
How do I prevent having the ocean to show in my house The basement is flooded
Re: Ocean question
@Okwa had the same problem. It's not a bug. To prevent this, draw a square/rectangle at ground level that covers the areas you don't want the ocean in. Right click its face and select "Intersect with model". Delete the parts that you don't want and keep the parts that you don't want the ocean there. Group these faces, create a new material, make it 100% white and 100% transparent and paint the group. These areas will no longer show the ocean. It doesn't have to be in a house, you can do the same anywhere outside as well.Mike wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:45 am How do I prevent having the ocean to show in my house The basement is flooded

Re: Ocean question
Be happy. In your case, it's just the basement. I flooded an entire airport.Mike wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 12:45 am How do I prevent having the ocean to show in my house The basement is flooded

I would have needed that tip earlier.Support wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2024 1:36 am To prevent this, draw a square/rectangle at ground level that covers the areas you don't want the ocean in. Re: Ocean question
I only thought of it after your entire airport got flooded but I forgot to mention it after I've made the fix

I have created two test images. Image one created without your tip, image two with. And yes, I know. The “water barrier” is not placed correctly. I did it that way on purpose. So you can see the difference very clearly.

Re: Ocean question
@Okwa is that the shadow because your grass is below ground level?

Re: Ocean question
@Okwa Yes, that first one is nice, but the second one, you got a floating ocean, the laws of physics don't apply It looks really cool but and eye soar tho
Re: Ocean question
Yes, as you can see in the first image, the grass is partially below the waterline in the center of the image. I also placed the “water barrier”, i.e. the 100% transparent area, slightly above the waterline. Curiously, it still works. But in this way you can see the effect better.Support wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 1:26 am @Okwa is that the shadow because your grass is below ground level?
BTW, the transparent area also causes the dark areas further in the background.
Many thanks. I know, but this is a particularly good way to see that Michael's tip works.Mike wrote: Sun Aug 25, 2024 1:29 am @Okwa Yes, that first one is nice, but the second one, you got a floating ocean, the laws of physics don't apply It looks really cool but and eye soar tho
BTW, I recreated the airport, or rather the military area with spaceport that I had “flooded” during the first use of the ocean, with the “water barrier”. Since the corresponding model was extremely faulty, I also started to recreate it. In a way, this is still a WIP version. I'm not happy with the harbor on the left in the scene. I still have to come up with a solution.

Re: Ocean question
@Okwa The way the "water barrier" works is, if it is within 3mm or less from the ground plane, it will "punch a hole" in the ocean, otherwise the "water barrier" will be treated as any other geometry in the scene and since it's transparent, it becomes useless.
Yes, the harbor maybe too straight (squarish)? but it's a WIP and I know you'll make it way better. The whole thig is already very nice

I hope so.
