A small ship, a big picture. The 'City' class corvette

Post by GateGirl86 »

Quite some time ago when I first began experimenting with Sketchup, oh boy, that was ten years ago! My Dad had just retired from the navy and we were all still on a high after watch season ten of Stargate. One thing he pointed out was the Stargate fleet, it was sadly lacking when you compared it to other shows such as B5. And he said, damn the air force, it should be run by the Navy. (That by the way got arguments from me).

So this little frigate came along around then, very crude and rudimentary. Over the years I keep going back to it, refining and adding things. So here it is, the F150 'City' class corvette. Its just a baby, but one with a big punch. I should add that in today's it'd be called a light frigate. 160m long, x 60m wide. 38 crew.

Testing God's ray once again.

The lights were something I had to re-work several times. Worked out well in the end.

Thank you! <3

You know me, I don't sugar coat anything, if I tell you it's insane, it is. I keep zooming in the picture to see more details, it's crazy! I'm impressed!

I know you don't :lol:

This was one of those projects that you keep returning to, every time adding or refining details. And even now I'm thinking of more little things to do. I really do love working on small ships, its so easy to work with. :D

I haven't posted anything in years. I bought Raylectron 2 or 3 (can't remember) and v5 is really a piece of art. I don't visit the forum often but when I saw Stargate, I had to come and look cause I LOVE Stargate, it's my all-time favorite. I LOVE Carter, I wish I had a wife like her. Melanie, or should I call you Sam? are you single <3 :salute :lol:

Melanie (Sam), your models are so impressive I'm in Love with you ('re model) I hope you'll make more. :salute

Mike? are you the one who made hair on that model of a head using the Grass/Fur in Raylectron? If that's you, that was years and years ago! Welcome back, and welcome to the Stargate topic. Melanie does incredible work indeed. How have you been? Still doing renders?

Yes that's me. I'm going allright thanks, about you? I'm still doing renders but it's for work so I can't post them and I don't have time to make models for myself. But I'll be watching the Stargate topic for sure. Kudo on v5, it's awesome what it does, especially the clouds, birds and water which I use all the time.

Thank you Mike. It's rather funny really, I am being constantly amazed at the number of people who still love Stargate. It makes me wonder why they had to stop making it. :mrgreen:
Most of my family, especially my Dad call me Sam, so yes that's cool. :D And yes I am always thinking of something related to the show to build. :lol: And I'm so sorry to let you down :lol: Married, two kids. :salute

After several attempts and getting it so wrong, I finally figured it out. I wanted to show a gentle flux of the engine exhaust and I think I managed to achieve that rather well. :D :salute

Thank you Michael. And when it comes down to it, the settings are what makes it. Dial it right down.

Intensity/Power=1000
Area Adjustment=500

But it's the God's Ray that counts.
Spread=0.25
Density=0.50
