Stargate-DDG-100 Endurance class

Post by GateGirl86 »

The need was there for a fast destroyer, in 2011 the SGC commissioned a new fleet, the DDG-100 class. At 500m, they are just a little smaller than the BC304 'Daedalus' class of ships; but they pack one hell of a punch for their size.

Featured here is DD103 UNS Coral Sea on a lone patrol in deep space.

Thank you Michael. I thought it was going to be totally boring. But after shifting the moon position around several times, and then I saw that soft light cast over the hangar deck, it looked perfect to me. :salute <3

Indeed it is, it's like you cut a clip right out of the SG movie, that's how good it is.

Upon your recommendation, I'm going to send this image to Joseph Mallozzi and get his opinion. I'll let you know what he says about it.

I sent him an email late yesterday afternoon. Waiting for a reply.

In the meantime, I did this last night.

I wanted to do a late afternoon image, with the sun on the horizon and water below. When I did the 'default' ground to water, it didn't change, just staying an all white surface?

oh, you had to select "Sea Waves" instead so it can load the Normal map for the water ripples. Then you can set its color, I set it to white, then you set the Ground color in the Sun/Sky setting, which I also set to white and then set the Width and Rotation of the Normal map to get it just right for the view.

Did that, colour, width, height, the whole thing including the ground setting. No show?

Gosh no. I've been working on and off with that for about 3 years now. I think to sum it up, probably around 2 months work. I meant the rendering overnight.

I really hate that generalisation of Christmas. For me the message always has to remain traditional <3

I hope you and your family a wonderful Christmas break. And I certainly will. The year was tough, but its ending on a fabulous conclusion. <3 :salute

Indeed, it has shifted to a different tradition now and I don't like it.

I wish the same to you and your family, and the baby too of course <3
