Re: Perseverance rover on Mars
Thanks. Took me about a year on this one. I started with the Curiosity Rover, much simpler, then this one. I did it the hard way, from photos etc. I could have just used the prints and made it in a week! I've added reg/green/blue filters for the sky so we can change the color to emulate other worlds. The sand is the Beach Wave except, removed the transparency and IOR and changed the color, that was easy

Honestly, it looks bloody fabulous. Near photo perfect and that is often hard to achieve with any rendering software. You should feel proud with it, I don't think I'd be able to create something like that, without blowing my mind over it!

Thank you
That's the goal hence new version to accomplish it. v5.1 is even better

Re: Perseverance rover on Mars
You sure can. All I did for this one is set Shines and Diffuse to all materials, load the Sea Waves for the ground and removed the transparency and changed the color. Played with the sky settings to get it like that then let it render. That's with v5.1 though.GateGirl86 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 4:54 pm I don't think I'd be able to create something like that, without blowing my mind over it!![]()

Re: Perseverance rover on Mars
I might give it a try when I finish with a couple of other projects. I think I did have some rendering issues with v5.1 though. I can't recall at the moment. Have you uploaded that onto DA as yet?

Re: Perseverance rover on Mars
I've fixed and made a lot of changes since then. I've been testing everything for days now and so far so good. I think it's ready to publish. I just have to finish the translation into the 12 languages. But I might do a new "help" bubble, I don't like this one. I want to make it very descriptive instead of just a short phrase. I'm still thinking on how to bring that help window when the mouse is over an option, but it will be over the model, so I'm not sure yet what to do. I don't want a help file like a PDF because it means searching, not instant help for the one option only.

Re: Perseverance rover on Mars
I PMed you v5.1 and here is a quick render. The craft is 500 feet above ground and the ground texture width is only 0.2x to make it smaller because as you go up, the texture size remains just about the same so you don't have to play too much with the size to get it right.

That rover model is amazing.
So is the render!

Fantastic.
Almost photorealistic. Correction, it is basically photorealistic. At least for a layman. You can recognise the master of the Raylectron.
