Catmaran
Re: Catmaran
It's stunning but yes, it's flat. Can you PM me your ROF and CFG so I can take a look at all the settings?

Re: Catmaran
This is better.
What I did:
Changed the camera angle
Changed the time of day
Changed the sky gamma to 1
Changed the mountain textures back to default and then used a very, very light pale yellow/green as the base color, then lowered the height.
But the biggest change was the ocean.
I found a seamless ocean texture to use and then adjusted the base color to a pale blue. And on a lark, I loaded the ocean texture as... the normal map. (because the plain texture was flat, so why not try it?) So both texture and normal map were the same image. This got rid of the seams. I fiddled with the scaling until it looked right and then the rotation. Raylectron created the shading for the aquamarine colors and distancing light and shadows.
Besides minor fiddling with the boat textures and post processing settings, those were the biggest changes. I'll make a reverse direction render next. Still something a tad off, but I'm at least very, very close to almost perfect.

Re: Catmaran
WOW, this is so much nicer, well done Bryan.
Here's a hint, you can make the seabed as deep as you like, just create a small rectangle (in Sketchup) the number of feet below ground, then in Raylectron, set the Ground color for the seabed and make the water color white. What this will do is reflect the color of the sky off the water as always, but it will also blend the seabed color based on dept, the deeper the darker it will be. This reproduces the natural phenomenon.

Re: Catmaran
That is a great suggestion!
Second render already in progress. Wait until you see this one!
I'll try the seabed suggestion tomorrow. Thanks!

Re: Catmaran
I just rotated the scene! (maybe got the vertical rotation off from previous by just a hair, but I tried to keep it on the same plane)
But the boat itself is much more interesting from the front.

Re: Catmaran
ah ok. If you set the seabed depth, you'll get the boat shadow on it, not on the surface of the water. That would make it even more realistic.
BTW, I LOVE how well you made this model. I'm very impressed.

Re: Catmaran
Definitely trying that tomorrow.
Thanks! It's got some geometry issues with smoothness, but I'll make the next one perfect.
Re: Catmaran
I don't see any imperfections! I can't wait to see the next one.

Re: Catmaran
Your model is too nice to render it far away.
build 348 will be even better as I am still fixing the ground (water) issue.
