DE 340 destroyer escort

Post by GateGirl86 »

This ship was designed by my Dad back in 2008. At that time he had a 3D artist from Gateworld do a very good model of it. Back then he classed it as a Cruiser with the designation CE or CG. But as the years passed and ship models became bigger, he felt it proper that it should be upgraded and re-evaluated as a Destroyer Escort (DE). So this is my take on it (so far, there is still a lot to be done)

Thank you Michael, I think it is at about 90% complete now. :salute

By the way, can we have the sun show in a black space scene? And how did you colour the black space? I remember you doing it, but I can't find it.

ah yes, I did this with the ground on and set the sky Brightness to like 0.01 to see the stars and the dark space was a little bit illuminated. It doesn't work with the ground off. But I will make it so that it works anyway, even if it goes against the laws of physics, who care  it's the art of the output that matters no?

and also, one of them I set the Sun Glare to the max and the glow was bleeding onto the background, but the sun can't be too far away like in the back of the camera.

and foe this one, I've set the Sun scale to 12, max the Glare, set the sun Intensity to 0.03 so it doesn't saturate the illumination and moved the sun away from the view because originally, it's at the top left corner but now it's 12x bigger.

I love the results! I do have one big problem, I can never ever position the sun/moon where I want it. Gosh, most times I can't even find it! :o

 ok, in the Sun/Sky settings, make sure it's not set as a moon. Then double click on the Elevation to make it zero and also on Azimuth to make it zero. If you can't see the sun, add or subtract 90 from the Azimuth until the sun is in view. Do this in Performance mode. If still no go, scale the sun to the max, that will do it

I did finally find it. At 140+ and 12 elevation, it puts it just above view and just to the left of centre :salute

It get its coordinates from your Sketchup model. So if you set the sun in Sketchup to the way you want it, it will carry on to Raylectron too.
