Free Sketchup Plugins
Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
I see. No, no balls. The rounded impression in the iris is only due to the fact that the side facing the viewer is only 90%, or was it 99%, I can't for the life of me remember, as large as the opposite side. So the model is indeed rounded in a sense. But not very much. The rest is something like an optical illusion, caused by the refraction/reflection.
Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
it is indeed an illusion, very cool

Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
A question about Tubify: There is the setting "Sphere" and "Square". I can't see any difference. What should the two settings do?
Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
ah, that's for the ends that connect to nothing. For example, if you make a cube and delete the bottom, you get a table like shape. The 4 legs sits on the ground and do not connect to any other lines, these are the ends that can either have nothing, a square or a sphere. The reason for the square is because it's the end. Having squares at the intersections of tubes doesn't look right.
You can change the segments to 4 and that will make a square tube rather than round. You'll have to remove the smoothness thought.

Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
Thanks for the explanation.
That I get rectangular bars instead of tubes when changing the segments to 4, I thought so myself.
Therefore I was so puzzled about these two setting options.
By the way, thanks again for this more than practical plugin. It's a feature I didn't know I needed. And which I will now never give away again.

Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
Created normal spheres, then applied an extension called "Eneroth Fractal Terrain Eroder" (from the description for the extension: "Fractal Terrain Eroder subdivides the selected surfaces and then applies a Pointyness value to each vertex") to the spheres and finally used your new tool.

Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
Two simple test images created with the new tool. Image one shows three asteroids. The left and the middle one are formed with Sketchwarp. The right asteroid I created with my regular method for comparison. The light comes from an artificial light source, I wanted an even illumination.
Image two shows a terrain that I created with the Terrain Generator and then made "hillier" with Sketchwarp.

I love that 2nd render. It looks, hmmm, soft, tranquil, I would move right in it if I could

Re: Free Sketchup Plugins
I have updated it again, I added a new item in the Sketchup "Window" menu (Raylectron toolbar settings) that allows you to hide the tools you don't use so the toolbar can be smaller with only the tools you use.

Re: Free Sketchup Plugins

And the combination of Sketchwarp and the "Erode" tool unfortunately does not work at all. Actually, the right asteroid should show the combination of these two tools. But, if I apply Sketchwarp first and then the "Erode" tool, Sketchup crashes. If I do it upside down and apply Sketchwarp to an eroded model, the model is partially ripped/teared and the inside is turned inside out. No matter how carefully I use Sketchwarp.

I do not need this update. Because I need all the tools.
