oh, because if you use the 2nd UV icon (the right one), it will make the texture as big as it can fit the area so you don't have an repeating patterns, and I see that there are!
Okwa wrote: Tue Sep 26, 2023 2:28 pm And the combination of Sketchwarp and the "Erode" tool unfortunately does not work at all. Actually, the right asteroid should show the combination of these two tools. But, if I apply Sketchwarp first and then the "Erode" tool, Sketchup crashes. If I do it upside down and apply Sketchwarp to an eroded model, the model is partially ripped/teared and the inside is turned inside out. No matter how carefully I use Sketchwarp.
I see, the erode one create few triangles and sharp edges while the SketchWarp create blobs and blob like objects. It's not good with sharp edges. I'll see if I can do something about that.

I have tried both UV and uV. I personally find the results with uV better. I admit, I prefer uV therefore. Even if you have to readjust the dimensions of the texture. And I don't find the repetitions in the texture of the asteroids that noticeable. :D

:o Well spotted. Impressive. You can recognize the expert. :D

The way the UV works is that it keeps the original size. While the UV scale it to match. Say you have a rectangle that is 10m and the texture is 1m. UV will paint that rectangle so that the texture is tiled 10 time. uV will scale the texture to fit the entire rectangle. Like the Terrain Generator do.

@Support One question: When you set the Face Perforator to 4 segments, the holes stand on the point. This are more a rhombus and not a square. Why is that?

oh, that's because it's using the Make Circle function, passing it the number of edges, so the orientation is whatever Sketchup decided it to be! Even is Sketchup, if you use the Circle tool and set the edges to 4, it's make the same, but you can drag and change the orientation though. I'll see if I can add a field to set the rotation angle for it, not very intuitive for circles though  but for fewer edges, it could be very useful.

I've added Rotation to the Perforator, just re-download the rbz. If you set it to 45, then the rhombus will be square :) takes a bit longer, but the progress bar will show you how long it takes to rotate them all.

@SupportThe question was actually only asked out of pure technical curiosity. But YOU ARE A GENIUS :excited: It works perfectly.
@GateGirl86 Thank you. Small note, SKP sometimes shows its capricious side with the tools. Aftere creating with Tubify SKP sometimes lags, when using the Face Perforator SKP sometimes thinks of crashing. Ok, this is somehow my fault too, I tested both tools on very challenging models. And that pushed SKP to its limits.

I'll be starting on a brand new model perhaps next week and you'll hear from me when I test out my new toys.

@Okwa

I've modified Sketch Warp with new settings, and, gave a big fix to how it distort so the edges are not crossing, they can, but nothing like before. Now you have options for in/out too. It's really cool and I think you'll like this one better. If the object is textured, it will go blank when you click Start but when you click Stop, it restores it automatically, so that button to restore the texture is no longer needed so I removed it. One thing, when you click Stop, you can click Start again and it will start shaping from the current shape not the original, that's even cooler I think. Same download link.

very odd looking space rocks  but it makes me keep looking so perhaps not so odd but very mysterious :salute

I Love what you did with the forest and water, very sweet, very very sweet <3 :salute

I've updated the tools again  I added Subdivide. I don't like the others because they don't work on skinny triangles and they all make the lines visible, mine has the 3 options, solid or hidden. So you could make a cube for example, subdivide it (with hidden lines) until you have small triangles, then you can use Sketch Warp on it and the lines won't be in the way.

@Support With sketchy sprinkle you can "place" a model on a face. Is there a setting that allows me to project a model exactly onto a surface so that it is aligned like the original model? To make it easier to understand what I want, I have manually created an example.

@Support :salute So simple

P.S. Since you already asked for more ideas for tools. Is it actually possible to create a variant of sketchy sprinkle where the model in question is not randomly placed on a face? But, depending on the user's preference, either exactly in the middle of a face, for example on a face like the one in my example image. Or as a line, perfectly next to each other, according to the user's wishes, along the X, Y or Z axis of the face in question.

Whereas, I think I asked for such a tool before and you had to deny it.

@Okwa Request denied  I can certainly do that, but I'm not sure how to do this because of the way it works and the selected faces can be anything from a sphere to a rectangle and they don't have to be connected and can be revered etc, so computing the center and make a grid is not so simple. But since I'm out of ideas right now, let me see how I could make that work :)

  That has time.

But, something else. I just created a new model and wanted to make the edges more prominent with the "Follow All" tool. You can see the result on the picture. The upper model is processed with the Follow All tool. For the lower model I used Tubify.
For the "Follow All" edging I worked with a circle of 5 m diameter. I also tried with other diameters. The strange thing was that this "needle" always comes out. However, the length is different. The larger the diameter of the circle I use, the shorter this "needle" is.

That's a problem with the Sketchup Follow Me which I have to use for the Follow All. Follow All tries to find edges that do not cross, then use the Follow Me on them, that's why if you open the group, you'll have sub groups. That will give you an idea how it does it and where it does not continue the path, so you could split the work around the one that gives you that needle. Can you maybe PM me the model, just the edges so I can test it see if I can do anything to prevent this?
