We're getting there! :salute

I want to make this the best as possible. I think we can achieve Hollywood level. This serves two purposes: it makes us both look good!

It's defiantly the fog. I can't seem to find the right setting. This is going to take a while.

I've tried all kinds of settings and it's not doing it right, mountains and sky are not showing at all. I'm on it right now to fix this.

Sorry missed your other questions. Yes, Got the preferred GPU selected.

Launching GPU as standalone worked. Thanks!

Still no hurry, just wondering if there was any progress with the fog setting in GPU mode?

I'm asking as I want to start some other projects and just need to get a rough idea to schedule.

Thanks as always!

Excellent! I've just downloaded the update.

I'll work on this on during Thanksgiving!

Got it working. One more kernel rebuild worked, but also had to turn fog, mountains, sky, and clouds off and then back on. Weird but worked.

Now to tweak the scene. Need to make ground in SU, fog color needs adjusting and mountains are too low. But it's working! Fog looks great! Thanks! Also love the engine flicker! Exactly what I hoped for.

Oh and it was FAST! 16 minutes to render at 50 samples, 7 second run time, 30fps.

Wow!

...and to let you know, I've fixed the fog so it works close to how it does in Sketchup. They do not disclose the algorithm they use but I got it close. Mainly, the shorter the distance between 'start' and 'end' produces denser fog, unlike before where it was the opposite.

I never knew this! I mean, how fog worked in SU. I have never seen this mentioned by anyone in 14 years.

Almost there. Almost there!

100 samples, 48fps, 6 seconds duration. 20 minutes to render.

Still needs some small materiel tweaks. But... yeah. The engine effect just gets better with each test. Do a scrub on the video playback and look at the engine effects. Wow. Better than I had hoped for!

oh wow :o I really like this one, the engines are perfect Bryan :salute and the only thing is the ground pattern that repeats but that's it. I put the player on repeat and zoom, it's awesome :salute

You have a good video card to render that many frames and samples in just 20 min.

Thanks! You should see the raw .avi.

Yeah, ground fix and canopy shininess and it's ready for final rendering.

Then over to video editing for the final post.

Are you going to make the video longer? Maybe with some turns, spins, twist or something :D

No turns or spins.

What I would like is a tracking shot. i.e. camera is moving alongside the ship. At most another 6 seconds.

Oh man. You should see the final render. Materiel fixed. 150 samples, 48 fps. Still 6 seconds duration. 40 minutes to render.

I'll work on post (production) tonight. I hope. I don't want to spoil the surprise. I've already shown my other half the intended end result and they were... giddy.

ah, you can use Follow and UnFollow but then it'll look like the ship has stopped moving since the camera is moving with it!

Don't spoil the surprise, I'm all about waiting to see the final, I love the wow effect :excited:
