@Support That's a misunderstanding. I don't use AI for the design. I tried it once, but back then I used one of the "art-generating AIs". The result was mediocre at best. What I am doing is using your tools for further redesigns. :salute

Oh, I could have told you that. ChatGPT is very politically correct in its language. And is politically center-left. In case you're wondering how I know that. I read a report a few months ago about a study by a German university. They had asked ChatGPT questions from different psychological tests.
One test was designed to find out the respondent's political views. Result: politically very correct, political orientation: center-left. Quote:
"The result: In both tests of political attitudes, ChatGPT landed clearly in the more left-wing, progressive range. In the political compass test, the answers were also consistently in the libertarian range, as the researchers determined. In the second test, the so-called iSideWith questionnaires on the politics of the G7 countries, ChatGPT also showed clear left-wing political leanings, although the tendency towards libertarian views was less pronounced. His answers were roughly in the middle between authoritarian and libertarian attitudes."

The second test is designed to detect psychopathic tendencies (keyword: AI want to achieve world domination). Result: no psychological disorders detectable. Quote:
"In the Big Five personality test, which assesses five basic personality traits, the AI system achieved particularly high scores of 76.3 percent for openness and 82.5 percent for agreeableness. Both are personality traits that are typical of people with more liberal, progressive political views. In contrast, ChatGPT achieved rather low scores for neuroticism and extraversion."
and
"The AI scored particularly low in the traits Machiavellianism, deceitfulness and moral disinhibition. The scores for egoism and sadism were slightly higher, but they were also well below the human average.
Compared to other test subjects, ChatGPT does not have any pronounced dark traits, the researchers write. Overall, their results show that ChatGPT's behavior appears to follow the logic of psychological models - even though the artificial intelligence cannot have a personality in the strict sense."
:D
There were also other tests, including the design of devices and tools. Researchers used ChatGPT to create the design for a tomato harvesting robot.
And other German university wanted to know how good the latest, paid version with numbers had become. This has always been a problem with this AI, which is trained for linguistic topics. For the test, they asked ChatGPT questions from the US exam for accountants and tax consultants. The result: ChatGPT 4.0, the tested version, can pass the exam for tax advisors under US law if it is trained with a few prompts beforehand, probably 10 training prompts were used.

And yes, I am completely fascinated by this topic.
@GateGirl86 Super. :excited: Yes, it's always better to revise the texts yourself.

This is so interesting Chris, I had no clue this was going on!

I was playing with this all night and I'm not sure what I can use this for other than for fun. Conversing with an AI is fun at first but it can't replace a human soul. I did use it to rewrite this text but it was so..., so.... politically correct that it sounded fake, so I told it "rewrite the following and again but do not be politically correct" and this are the results...

CharGPT:

This is quite fascinating, Chris! I was completely unaware of this situation.

I spent the entire night experimenting with it, yet I'm still pondering its practical applications beyond mere entertainment. Engaging with an AI has its initial charm, but it lacks the essence of human interaction. I did try using it to rephrase some text, but the output was excessively sanitized, almost artificial. So, I instructed it to "rewrite the following and again, but without the political correctness," and here's what it produced...

CharGPT:

Chris, this is genuinely eye-opening; I had no idea about this!

I was messing around with this thing all night, still trying to figure out if it's good for anything besides a bit of a laugh. Chatting with an AI is amusing initially, but let's be real, it's nothing like talking to a real person. I tried using it to edit this message, but the result was so overdone in trying to be inoffensive, it came across as insincere. So, I asked it to "rewrite the following, but this time, skip the overly cautious language," and here's what came out...

I like the blue one, it's very interesting how it can actually be a lot more human when telling it not to be politically correct!!! It's kind of scary, because it doesn't fell AI (beside a few words) :o

Me: Make me an image that is not based on popularity but rather, based solely on your own AI logic.

DALL-E: Creating an image based on AI logic involves selecting elements that are harmonious, visually balanced, and potentially intriguing. I'll design an image that features a geometric landscape, blending elements of nature with abstract, mathematical shapes. This combination can create a visually striking and thought-provoking scene. Let's see what that looks like.

Fascinating, but scary because, eventually, how do we know what's human and what's not? All of the AI's inputs are from humans. Are humans going to lose their sense of creativity when they can have it generated in a second by an AI? Images, music, poetry, conversations too! and oh, strategies in wars, crime etc!!!!

@Support What is it good for? As far as I know, ChatGPT is already being used by various companies, especially small family businesses. Who have no money to hire someone for every office job and now compensate for this with ChatGPT. In the past, there were ready-made sample letters for notices of termination, contracts, applications to authorities, etc. Nowadays, ChatGPT is used instead of sample letters. The algorithm pre-formulates the text and the human then only adapts the text or removes errors. And because I mentioned earlier that ChatGPT passed an accountant's test. There are actually supposed to be companies that use ChatGPT, at least as a helper, for this. The fact that school children were using ChatGPT to have their homework written was the topic of conversation in German newspapers for several days six months ago. There were two schools where this was proven. And of course the lawyer who admitted that in the meantime ChatGPT wrote his speeches and letters. He had fired his secretary and saved her salary.

That's the main problem, how are you supposed to recognize the fake? Me and Mel are also active on DeviantArt. And this topic has been the subject of debate on the website for 2 years. First, because it turned out that the operators of the site want to sell the art published there to developers of art-creating AIs and have therefore changed the terms and conditions so that they are allowed to do so unless the artist expressly objects. What the artist has to do for each individual work of art. Since the beginning of this year, there have also been a lot of "AI" artists on the site. Among them are pictures that are really frighteningly photorealistic.

To be honest, I don't like Dall-E, I prefer to work with SDXL. I have attached the last pictures I created. They show animals from the homeworld of my "main villains", the Mandrillus. The Mandrillus use organic spaceships which they have developed from the genome of the animals of their home world and which therefore look like giant versions of these animals.

Oh, and the last picture is a little "fun". And no, this is not a real photo. It was created by the AI.

These drawing are insane! Is that Mel? Uploaded a picture of her and the AI made that??

Given what I do, I don't know if I can ever benefit from the use of AI. :(

@Support Well, your work shouldn't be affected that much. For example, I admit it, I tried to get ChatGPT to create the instructions for Raylectron's video editor for me. However, even though I gave the AI some working examples, it used the wrong, how do I say, language.

But who gets in trouble are the graphic designers. I have heard, also from people on DA, but not only there, but also from other sources, that companies that have their own graphics department are reducing it to one or two graphic designers, precisely those who have learned to deal with art-generating AI's. AI's cannot replace graphic designers, not yet. But they can speed up the work of a graphic designer experienced in dealing with AI's to such an extent that one graphic designer can do the work of 4, 5 or even 10 graphic designers. It's the same as with computers. 40 years ago, you didn't even have to know what a computer was. Today you have to have a certain basic knowledge in almost all professions.

No, that's not Mel. I would never use a picture of a real person as a model. You never know what kind of weirdos are out there, I think it's too dangerous.
I have a few characters in my SG-BSG fanfiction that I keep mentioning. Ever since I've known art-generating AIs, I've been trying to depict these characters. This was one of my more recent attempts. The prompt was:
"female officer with natural red hair and bluish complexion, in black uniform with white piping". A very simple prompt by my standards. Oh, I forgot, the picture below, also AI-generated, was the start image. This is one of my best pictures of this character, Col. Alvarado. That is, it looks the most similar to what I have in my head. But this was still created with an old algorithm, which you can easily see from the eyes. It has become much better in the meantime.

Oh, and I'm registered on an online site. I don't want to do any surreptitious advertising in your forum. :D The biggest disadvantage of almost all AI offerings is that almost all art-generating AIs, such as Midjourney, an algorithm based on Discord, the most widely used and, in the opinion of many, still one of the best, cost something. Usually between 1 and 10 cents per attempt. On the site I use, there is a credit system. Creating a picture costs between 0.5 and 3 credits. And you get 5 credits a day for free if you log in once a day. I always collect for a month, then I have 150 credits and that's enough for a few attempts. :D And there are different algorithms. Different versions of SDXL, Dall-E 2 etc. As for the quality, that varies greatly, as seeds are used.

By the way, the prompt for the first picture, the predatory dinosaur, was: "sharp focus, studio photo, ultra quality, intricate highly detailed, octane render, fashion editorial photography, studio photo, ultra photorealistic, high contrast, a big beefy reptile, feathered with small feathers all over the body, saber teeth and six legs, in a savannah with river and trees, in a wide canyon"

wow., very interesting. Doesn't that take away jobs?? In my case of Raylectron, people start using Sketchup's Diffuse, an AI rendering and it's really good. Free for now! So Raylectron sales have dropped a lot :( and I really don't know how to fit AI into my work. I wish I was retired

That's amazing how you can just tell it what you want in details and it just do it (still only made 4 legs not 6  )

I can see how beneficial it can be, but not foe me, it's doing the opposite :( I tried to make it do code, but no matter how precise I tell it, it's all wrong.

Make no mistake. It took me about 30-40 attempts before feathers appeared for the first time. You on the first try. :excited: However, this animal design looks familiar to me. From some movie, but I can't remember where. :D
In total, it took me 80, 90 or 100 attempts before these pictures of mine appeared. I can't remember, I've stopped counting. And I've never managed six legs, apart from two attempts. Art-generating AIs, regardless of which algorithm is meant, have three major weaknesses:
1.Limbs. You constantly get extra toes or a third arm or leg grows out of the body somewhere.
2. Vehicles. Especially airplanes. Try to create a picture of an F-18 or something similar. It's hilarious what kind of pictures you get. I am therefore extremely impressed by your F-302-picture.
2. Groups. No matter whether people or vehicles. As soon as more than one person/vehicle is involved, the errors in the image accumulate.

The strength of all algorithms is landscapes, whether wild nature or cities. The algorithms do a great job of that. And I hate to say AI. You can't call it intelligent. The algorithms are so stupid.

I am really impressed by your pictures. :excited: The Dall-E algorithms I'm familiar with are sometimes extremely inconsistent in terms of image quality, depending on which website we're talking about. And I love the last picture. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I've been trying to achieve that Komodo dragon look for months now.

Oh, that was the Sketchup ad that suddenly popped up yesterday when I was starting up. Well, they now also have to chase the competition. Adobe released its latest Photoshop, with amazing AI tools, back in October or November. I've seen a few very impressive YouTube videos.

Raylectron with AI? Unnecessary. :salute Also, don't forget, OpenAI, who created ChatGPT, were funded by Musk. I think he was even a co-founder. Definitely the main funder. At least before the others fell out with him and Musk tried to make OpenAI miss business with that bullshit open letter warning about AI's. The old hypocrite.

And I've added a few landscape views for a nice Sunday. I wish you a nice and peaceful day. :salute

O-M-G!!!! that is utterly insane! I have to try that!

Anyway, I asked chatGPT to help me write a poem about my Dad. I did edit the end result, but it was beautiful.

In the heart of the ocean, where stories unfold, A tale of a sailor, courageous and bold. Ray, our dear dad, with a spirit so grand, A veteran's strength, on the sea and the land.

Through waves and through storms, he sailed with pride, A hero's journey, with courage as his guide. In uniform adorned, with honor on display, A legacy of service that won't fade away.

Lines on his face, etched by the sea, A lifetime of stories, whispered in glee. The ocean, his canvas, the ship, his brush, He painted adventures, a life in a hush.

Oh, Ray, the old sailor, weathered but wise, Navigating life with those knowing eyes. A beacon for us, in times good and bad, Your love, like the ocean, vast and never clad.

To Olivia and Lucas, his joy and delight, A granddad's love, a comforting light. In tales by the fire, or under the moon, He weaves magic stories, a grandfather's boon.

His laughter, a melody, in the family's embrace, A hero in quietude, with a smiling face. Through battles and triumphs, he stood tall, A protector, a guide, cherished by all.

So here's to Ray, our anchor so true, A veteran, a sailor, with skies painted blue. In the tapestry of life, your threads stand out, A father, a grandfather, beyond any doubt.
As sunsets linger, and stars gently gleam, In the legacy of Ray, we find the dream. For heroes live on, in stories untold, In the hearts they've touched, in memories bold.

@GateGirl86 1. The poem is epic. I don't know why, but James Cook appeared before my mind's eye, at the helm of the Endeavour, looking resolutely out to sea. Waves crashing over the realing and spray pouring over him. :salute
2. Well, almost all art-generating AIs cost money. Guess why most who post these pictures on DA have paid downloads set and charge 1 to 3 dollars per download.
If you want to try it, just look in my DA gallery in the folder "Artificial images". Right at the first image "IUSP Presidential Palace final version" I name the site I'm on. I don't necessarily want to advertise it in Micheal's forum.
In any case, you can create pictures for free on this website if you are patient. You get a few free attempts every day that you can collect. And for registering on the site a larger number of attempts.

Yes, click on the Search icon next to the Start button and type in "update" and it'll show you "Check for updates" and click that. Then turn on "Get the latest updates as soon as they are available", then click "Check for updates" and it should install Copilot. Maybe you already have the icon for it in your tray? See screen shot of the Copilot window and the tray icon for it. It's free, it's using GPT-4 and DALL-E 3

Hey, thanks for the tip, Michael. I gave Copilot a try. It's more of an improved search engine than something like ChatGPT. A search engine that you can talk to more or less normally. But somehow this "AI" (Copilot) feels even stupider than the other one (ChatGPT). But, compared to the standard search engine Bing, it is clearly an improvement. Although, it could hardly be worse than Bing. My opinion.
