Cardassia

Post by Okwa »

Since I have the theme "Cardassia and the Cardassians" for my "Star Trek Anniversary" weeks this year, of course a picture of Cardassia can't be missing. I'll take two. :D
From 2373 to 2375, the Cardassians, who had joined the great power of the Gamma Quadrant, the Dominion, were involved in the Dominion War, which was considered "one of the bloodiest and most destructive wars in modern galactic history".

The first image shows Cardassia before the war, sometime between 2365 and 2370. A patrol consisting of a Keldon-Class and two Galor-Class ships returning to Cardassia. In the background, in orbit around Cardassia, six Marormar-type space yards and two Terok Nor-type stations can be seen. The Terrok Not-type stations serve both as primary orbital spaceports and, along with an extensive network of defense satellites, as an important part of the orbital defenses. Last, towering over everything, is Keldoror Marek. Keldoror Marek is the orbital outpost of the Cardassian Central Command, is the primary control station for the interplanetary and orbital defenses, and the location of several elite ground forces units. From here, these troops can reach any point on the planet and take over its defenses (or suppress protests/rebellions).

The second image shows Cardassia after the lost war, around the year 2390. A carrier group consisting of a Ghemor-class carrier/explorer, a Damar-class cruiser/deep-space explorer and three Galon- and Galda-class frigates each are approaching Cardassia. In orbit around Cardassia you can now see six Regula-III space stations and the Cardassia Repair Yard Complex, each built by the Federation during Cardassia's 11-year occupation after the Dominion War. In addition, there are two Cardassian Dukor-type space stations and Dukorgalda, the new orbital spaceport.
As a consequence of the last battle of the war, in which several thousand warships were involved, the entire Cardassian solar system is littered with debris from starships, space stations and defense installations.

Very true and fixing bugs is a job, however, making Raylectron and the tools is not, it's a passion to me :salute

Lost in the turmoil of the algorithm. In other words, still focused on AI art. Posted a few more AI pictures yesterday. At the moment she's still not in the mood for 3D models, I think.

No, I haven't. Strange, I just rendered something yesterday and usually the program asks me right after starting if I want to download the latest version. But there was no such thing yesterday. :?:
Anyway, I'll download right away. :salute

Weird, maybe the server was too slow to respond.

I have since downloaded and tried it and everything seems to be working fine.
Dince you mentioned "the server was too slow to respond". The download of the Raylectron file was again very slow for me. Didn't go above 300 Kb/s. Otherwise, I haven't experienced a slow download for months. Only when I downloaded build 34 was there a slow download rate. I don't know anything about this sort of thing, but maybe the low download rate is a clue, what is interfering with the response?

Only since version 5.3. Before that, it only happened once and this one time I associate with Internet problems on my side of the line. But these problems have been resolved. And, as I said, every download since you put 5.3 online has been very slow. And it only occurs with Raylectron download, regardless of the time of day. Both already tested.

That's weird. But the file is also about 50mb bigger, but that shouldn't affect the speed. I just tried it on my Starlink, and it download at 2MB/s and we're having a bad snowstorm right now, 40km wind and -17c

Weird is good. -17°? Winter 2023/24 is the warmest winter in Germany for years. Decades! Average temperature this winter +8°. At peak 17°! Plus temperatures, mind you. Only 4 days of snow. But only because there was 30 cm of fresh snow overnight and it took 4 days for it to melt.
Just for fun I started a Raylectron download. 20KB/s! 150 minutes to finish. Honestly, I haven't seen download figures like that for 15 years. After that I downloaded a program from Steam at 6.7 MB/s. Really weird, Steam is never that fast at this time of day. Really weird.
