Dakara-Class Thebes-Subclass

Post by Okwa »

After the last picture, the Memphis-Subclass of the Dakara-Class, now the Thebes-Subclass. Here you can see a MEF-29 "Ant" shuttle approaching a Thebes-Subclass city-ship.

As mentioned in the last description, the Dakara-Class, which was originally designed as a space fortress, is in practice used as a mobile government center/military base/supply base in the expansion of the IUSP into sectors of the "Wilderness", regions of space claimed by the government, but where there is little or no government presence.

Colonization in the Stargate universe follow one of three patterns, regardless of faction:

1. Private colonization: These are carried out by groups of citizens or occasionally by corporations. They are carried out without support, but with the approval of a government. Such colonizations are usually carried out with the help of stargates and not with spaceships. The colonists travel to a previously uninhabited world and build all the houses and infrastructure there themselves and on their own responsibility.

2. Colonization by planetary governments: A world, usually one with more than 100 million inhabitants (CV worlds), founds a colony to reduce the population, especially on worlds with several billion inhabitants, or for trade and economic interests. These colonizations are carried out partly by stargate, partly by spaceships. The planetary governments often set up an initial infrastructure before the first colonists arrive. In the initial phase, however, the majority of a new colony founded by a planetary government consists of prefabricated modular buildings provided by the respective government. The actual construction of the colony is then carried out by the colonists.

The Dakara-Class is part of the 3rd variant: "Colonization by a central government". Most central governments, such as the federal government of the Union, establish colonies independently of the stargates to counterbalance the focus on stargate colonization by private individuals and planetary governments. The federal government usually first establishes all the planetary, interplanetary and interstellar infrastructure necessary to guarantee a colony a minimum of autonomy. Only once this infrastructure has been established are the majority of the colonists sent out. However, a small number of the colonists can already be settled in the colonies during the construction phase as part of the construction crews or to coordinate the remaining colonists.

The Dakara-Class represents the very first phase of colonization initiated by the Union-government. The city-ship has the task of coordinating, supporting and protecting the work in the new colonies. A single Dakara-Class can be responsible for an area ranging from a single sector (space cube with an edge length of 20 light years) to an entire sector cluster (officially a space cube with a height*length*width of 3 sectors each, i.e. a total of 27 sectors, in practice colloquially for a space area that is larger than a sector but comprises a maximum of 27 sectors). The area of responsibility of a Dakara-Class ship depends on the number of settlements and the military and political situation.

In the first weeks or months, a Memphis-Subclass ship takes over this task. After 6 to 18 months, more rarely after 24 months, a Thebes-Subclass takes over the tasks of the Memphis-Subclass city-ship.

The Memphis-Subclass is much better armed and has larger squadron units than the Thebes-Subclass and is therefore deployed in militarily troubled areas until the situation is under control.

The Thebes-Subclass, on the other hand, is weaker armed and has smaller hangars for the fighter squadrons. However, it has much larger workshops and workrooms as well as technical personnel, meaning that it can provide much more direct support for construction work in the colonies.

To compensate for the smaller hangars, the Thebes-Subclass has six landing fields on each of the six piers as well as twelve additional residential pyramids. In this way, the Thebes Subclass can also be better used as a spaceport. To further improve its spaceport capabilities, the Thebes-Subclass will therefore usually land at sea during missions. The Memphis-Subclass, on the other hand, is usually stationed in space, orbital, interplanetary or even interstellar.

Many Thanks. WOW, as desktop background? I'm glad you like it. Maybe I'll add some motion blur to the shuttle. Unfortunately, I tend to forget this detail from time to time.

Fortunately, I anticipated your request and rendered the image in mode 1 as well. Here you go.
Apart from the exposure mode, NOTHING has changed!

@Support  For me it's the other way around. I don't know, in mode 1 the light seems too bright for 6 pm in late March. In addition, you can only guess at the normal map of the shuttle, or rather the textures of the shuttle in general, in mode 1, while you can see both more clearly in mode 2.

Life would be boring if everyone had the same taste. :salute

And thanks for the comparison picture. :salute :salute :salute
