Tales of three City (ships)

Post by Okwa »

I was just discussing the size of Atlantis. When I had the idea for this picture. Actually only as a comparison picture. But in cool. 8-)

@Support Mode 2. Mode 1 has overexposed Atlantis. Extremely bright. :D

This is really cool :excited:

Try mode 1 again but reduce the Shadows setting in Illumination?

Ok, I'll give it a try. Honestly, I forgot how detailed Atlantis is. My PC almost died on this scene yesterday. I had to delete all the Dakara-class weapon turrets to be able to render at all. 10 million faces was a bit much. :D

That reminds me, there was a problem with the fog in both modes. I actually wanted to make the scene a bit foggy. But in both modes the scene became more or less black. Depending on which setting I used. I also tried it again with the Dakara class alone. The image also became more or less black after activating the fog. I'll also create an image with the fog activated so you can see what I mean. :D

@Support I have now implemented your hint. The first image is rendered in mode 1. The light is too bright for a scene at dusk. Or is it just my imagination? :D

I created the other two images with activated fog. Otherwise, nothing has changed compared to the first image. I used the distance setting "Auto setting". For the first, dark image, I set the color of the fog to almost white (245:245:245). For the second, bright image, I set the fog color to almost black (30:30:30). Mode 1, in mode 2 you can't see any details at all, here the images are completely black or white.

@Okwa This is just weird! Using the auto-set should give you a pretty good fog as it is based on the entire model bounding box. A black fog should basically give you no fog, not a black scene and a white fog gives, fog.

Let me go try that on a huge model, not a house model...

The problem is that Sketchup limits the fog distance to about 70000 inches (1778 meters) and Raylectron was using that. So I fixed it to unlimited and it works good now. The fog color sets both, the color and the density but also. the larger the distance is between Start and End, the less dense the fog is. The Auto-Set works good now, it gives a good starting point...

@Support I don't say it often enough, Michael. You are a genius! :excited: :excited: :excited:
The upper image is rendered in mode 1, the lower image in mode 2. I just moved the start of the fog a little further towards the camera compared to the auto setting.

@Okwa

thank you so much

:o :o :o WOW Chris!!! This looks so real! It's so amazing the difference with the fog, and you set it just like real life. I love mode 1 more, it's bright yes, but so full of life. You could reduce the sun's intensity a bit see how it does?

You're Welcome :D

It's certainly worth a try. But I think with the fog, the fact that it's bright is quite appropriate. A "flash of hope", if you like. :D

If everyone starts using my images as background images now, I'll start to think I've actually improved my rendering skills.

@Support @Mike @Alienizer

"Through clouds we soar, with sunlight breaking free,
The shuttle glides, our destination we see.
Atlantis rests, a ship on ocean's crest,
Three islands foreign, in the waves they nest.

Beside her Memphis, Thebes anchored tight,
In distant worlds, our dreams take flight.
A strange new land, yet familiar glow,
A new-found home, where hearts can grow.

In silence we travel, with courage bright,
A fresh beginning in the unknown's light.
Atlantis, Memphis, Thebes in tranquil gleam,
Unveil new paths, and realms unseen."

@Support Thanks, Michael. You can now use ChatGPT 4.0 for free, with some restrictions. I wanted to test if I see a difference between 4.0 and 3.5. And creating this lyrics was part of the test.

ChatGPT made this??? (I use it as a search engine instead of Google, way better) Lets call it ChrisGPT then

Yes, this was created by ChatGPT. I know what you mean, even as a translator it's better than Google. Although you have to be a bit careful with the information in ChatGPT. At least 3.5 likes to confuse length measurements such as meters and feet. :)

I use it all the time as a translator and it works good. I have a lot of tech support from all around the world in different languages. I used to use Google Translate but it didn't work good. With ChatGPT, I can tell it that I need to reply to this (and paste the user's text) in his language, then tell it what my answer should be, and it makes me a reply in that language and it even add a few things I overlooked. Very cool.

I'll have to try it with lyrics too see what it comes up with, in fact, let me try it now  "Make me a lyric about my friend Chris who is a 3D artist who loves Stargate, Star Trek etc".......

(Verse 1)
In a world of pixels and light,
Chris paints the stars, crafting night.
With Stargate dreams and Trek-filled skies,
He brings the cosmos to our eyes.

(Chorus)
Oh, Chris, you make the galaxies gleam,
In 3D worlds, you weave your dream.
From wormholes deep to starships high,
You take us where the stars align.

(Verse 2)
With every frame, a tale unfolds,
In distant lands, where stories are told.
A Stargate opens, a Trek begins,
In Chris's hands, the adventure spins.

(Chorus)
Oh, Chris, you make the galaxies gleam,
In 3D worlds, you weave your dream.
From wormholes deep to starships high,
You take us where the stars align.

(Bridge)
In the vast expanse, where stars ignite,
Chris’s art shines ever bright.
A universe born from passion's spark,
Guided by his creative mark.

(Chorus)
Oh, Chris, you make the galaxies gleam,
In 3D worlds, you weave your dream.
From wormholes deep to starships high,
You take us where the stars align.

(Outro)
So here’s to Chris, our stellar guide,
With Stargate dreams and Trek by his side.
In every frame, a star is born,
Through Chris's eyes, the cosmos adorn.

WTH    this is SO GOOD though    <3 <3 <3 I do feel that way about you, how did it know

Holy Molly, I didn't think ChatGPT wrote this until I started to read further! I wonder if it understands what it writes or if it's just input/output. I mean, there has to be some randomness to it, but randomness that makes sense is illogical
