Michael, what have you done?
Michael, what have you done?
I was about to create a scene with build 98 when the message for build 100 came up, but I was too lazy to download the new version first. Then I got curious and rendered the same scene again with build 100. Micheal, how? The first image is rendered with Build 98. The second with Build 100. What a difference!
I emphasize, I have changed nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It's all Michael's fault.

Re: Michael, what have you done?
Now my curiosity has really gotten the better of me. I wanted to render all the scenes that I still have saved on the hard disk with the new build. I noticed that I can no longer open some of them. Raylectron then complains “Access violation”. I think, but I'm not sure, that the .rof files that I can't open are the ones that I created before Build 98. The ones I could open were definitely created with Build 98.
Anyway, here are the scenes I was still able to open. I have not made any changes to the settings of any scene. I rendered them as they were saved. And as I had already posted them here in the forum.

Re: Michael, what have you done?
@Okwa OH NO
I didn't change anything about loading, it has to be a render bug that gives you that access violation error. I opened a bunch of my older models without errors. Can you share with me that model you get that error and the black spots? just the rog, cfg and texture folder will do.

Re: Michael, what have you done?
No problem. But you've once again outdone yourself with the rest. The light and shadows are so cool now. I've just created another image.Support wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:28 am @Okwa OH NO

Come to think of it, all the files I can't open are created with the latest beta version of Raylectron. I can open all the files I created with the regular build afterwards. Maybe that's the reason?

Re: Michael, what have you done?
That's what I thought too!
It wouldn't make any difference which build you use to open them as I didn't change the save/load process at all. The only thing I can think of is a number conversion from the CFG file that is not compatible with the new change but I can't think od which! Can you send me just a CFG file that I can load so I can see what's causing the error?

@Okwa aren't the shadows for this one too dark???

Re: Michael, what have you done?
Please. With the last picture I have uploaded a .zip with the whole file (.cfg, .rof, texture)Support wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:50 amThat's what I thought too!

Re: Michael, what have you done?
In my opinion, no. I think it's better this way, considering how low I've set the sun. Also on the second image, which I think you see black spots there, but which are actually shadows of the mountains, I personally think the shadow is appropriate. Let's see what @BKilburn has to say, shall we?
Re: Michael, what have you done?
I agree Chris. But what about these black spots in Erag-Class on survey 1b ? what are they?Okwa wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:57 amIn my opinion, no. Re: Michael, what have you done?
I was able load that CFG without error but maybe it's because I didn't use the associated model for it. Where did you upload the zip?

Re: Michael, what have you done?
These are the shadows of the mountains. Although, they're actually just hills, but never mind. And at the top left of the image is a lake. Just compare this image with the one above and you'll see. Only the shadow is much darker now, nothing more.Support wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:59 amI agree Chris. Re: Michael, what have you done?
@Support Oh, you mean you little black dots/strips? Those are the trees and their shadows. I'm sorry, I misunderstood.

Re: Michael, what have you done?
I have to correct myself. When I have Raylectron running and go to “Open file” in Raylectron. Then, and only then, do I get this error message! And I cannot open the file.
Re: Michael, what have you done?
Yes, that comes from the hill on the right in your detail. That is its shadow.
Re: Michael, what have you done?
oh! I just tried it, while it's rendering too, I click Open in the menu, it ask if I'm sure... click Yes and it shows me a list of file, I open one and it comes up normally.

@Support Don't be surprised that I won't be in touch today. I have to go to the babysitting service.
Re: Michael, what have you done?
I can open that model no problem, but I can't make the lights brighter, no matter how big of a number I enter for Power and Area!!! Did you have that problem?

Re: Michael, what have you done?
The shadows were set to "Ambiant" that's why. When I set it to "Real" it's proper, a bit too bright but I set the power to default of 35 and it looked good

Re: Michael, what have you done?
@Support That's right, if Illumination is set to “Ambience”, nothing changes when I change the setting for the light.
But I'm just wondering why it was set to ambience. I can't remember doing that. Or maybe I'm just getting old.
But when the illumination is set to real, MY GOD IT LOOKS GOOD!!!!
Already during the first test, SIMPLY AWESOME.
I just have to correct the textures now. The current setting no longer fits. Then I'll render the scene properly.
