Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
Spaceports are the flagship of a civilization; they are usually the first thing a visitor to a foreign planet will see. Therefore, a spaceport will always be a place where new technologies can be found very quickly, even if most of the technology is subplanetary. On the surface there are usually only the entry ports, all the necessary sensor and emitter systems and, depending on the size, the control buildings and parts of the passenger and cargo areas.
A 21st century airport would probably evoke only a weary smile from a person of the year 374 AJR/2379 A.D., because the scales and ideas of size have changed enormously over the last few centuries and have grown to gigantic proportions. With the help of the most modern means of transportation, from gliders and express trains to faster-than-light spaceships, every traveler, no matter where they come from, has the opportunity to cover large to very large distances, even intergalactic ones, in a reasonable amount of time.
The image of travelers laboriously pushing their way through overcrowded queues is a thing of the past. The needs of almost all galactic peoples are taken into account, as are those of ordinary citizens who want to spend their vacation on some distant colonial planet and are now waiting for their ship.
Of course, there are clear differences between passenger and cargo ports. In a passenger port, you will see even less of the technology, where the focus is on comfort and the rapid handling of passenger flows. In a cargo port, you will look in vain for luxury, as the focus here is inevitably on logistics.
In addition to the actual docking bays for spacecraft, the grounds of a spaceport also include shipyards, maintenance facilities, control facilities, power supply facilities, accommodations, barriers, protective and defensive systems, and all associated logistical facilities. A spaceport is usually surrounded by a wall to protect the surrounding area. For safety and environmental reasons, less than 25 percent of all facilities are located on the surface. Beneath a spaceport, facilities extend up to three hundred levels deep. Depending on the spaceport's equipment and local environmental regulations, spacecraft are either transported into the atmosphere by a gravitational field, the so-called "spacecraft lift", or launched under their own power.
The spaceport shown here is a small part of the “Iari'Mhatep Intergalactic Gateway” spaceport, which is located near Iari'Mhatep, the capital of the Intergalactic Union of Sovereign Planets. With a size of 28.57 km², this part represents only a fraction of the total area of this spaceport, which extends over a total area of about 4400 km².
The rear part of the spaceport area is dominated by the 500 m high and 75 m thick protective wall. This wall divides the entire area of the spaceport into several smaller areas with a size of 15 to 30 km², depending on the terrain and function of the area, and fulfills several functions: It provides visual protection when the spaceship engines are in use, serves as noise protection and also acts as a barrier in the event of possible accidents.
In front of the protective wall on the left of the image is the arrival and departure terminal of this section of the spaceport. All passengers are processed here, and customs is also located here. Departing passengers transfer here to the underground shuttle system, which takes them to the actual underground spaceport and to the spaceships. Arriving passengers leave the spaceport through this terminal.
On the right you can see the entrance to the approach lane for the spaceships to the underground part of the spaceport, especially the docking stations and maintenance docks. The entrance tunnel has a diameter of 1,000 meters and is surrounded by a ring containing shield emitters - to close and secure the approach lane in case of a disaster – tractor beam emitters and guide beam emitters - to assist with approach and departure – as well as the Flight Traffic Control Tower responsible for this approach lane.
The access road and the entrance to one of the parking garages can be seen in the foreground. To the left and right of the entrance are the pedestrian entrances to the underground facilities of the spaceport. Around them are several working drones. The rest of the buildings in the picture are various hotels, department stores – always a part of a spaceport, especially for the sale of some of the most delicate products – administrative offices, and traffic control towers, which generally control land and air traffic in this area.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
It took a few months. But now I'm finally finished with the spaceport and the accompanying text. The rest of the world won't get to see it until Christmas. But you can see it today.

@Okwa WOW I really like this, and the story too, and I'm glad to see it first before Christmas
Funny, I had to lift my head up a bit to see more from above the area were the pyramids are duh!
Did you use a background or is that the Raylectron sky and clouds and mayb fog too??

@Support Many thanks. All Raylectron, but no fog. I didn't find fog suitable for an ongoing flight operation.
I have a second version with a higher position of the sun. But somehow I liked the sunset red better. But here is the second variant for comparison.

I like the sunset as well, but I really like the shadows on the second one too. Well done, Chris. Only a few months? It would take me way longer than that, and that's if I can even do this at all.

@Support At the end of the evening, I rendered two other images of mine again with the cloud settings of the spaceport image. Actually I only wanted to render the first image with it, but then I found the fleet scene again and thought why not.

You sure did a super job in the cloud settings, it looks absolutely beautiful.
I just keep on looking at that ground, and it feels like the whole thing is a mixture of a photo and the render. It's just an amazing feeling.
and the Pah'mont, this looks so good Chris, I don't know how to compliment you enough
One thing, why is the trees glowing white? Are they 2D trees? or you didn't render enough samples? The other kind of trees are ok.

Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
@Support Many Thanks. The trees are all assets from Raylectron. I rendered 12 samples. Now that you mention it, I noticed a few other maple trees that also have a white border. The two trees directly to the left of the one you noticed, for example. See screenshots. With these two trees, you can't see the white edge so well because of the background. On the tree you noticed, the white edge is more noticeable because there is one of the mining vehicles behind this maple. But only the maple trees seem to be affected. Not the pines.
Oh, oh, now it's getting embarrassing for me. I just remembered that there's also an error message about the maple trees when I load this scene. Since I hadn't noticed any image errors so far, I ignored it and didn't mention it. I have also made a screenshot for you.
Hold on. Let's go back again. The white edge is for the pines and not the maple trees, isn't it?

@Support So, it's the pines, not the maple, as you can see here in this image. They look like they were cut out of another picture and then glued in here. I have already tried reloading the pines, but it made no difference.
BTW, I wanted to increase the number of tall grasses, but I got an “Access violation” message. Only when I reloaded the scene was I able to increase the number of grasses.

Does that image file exist in that folder?
I was able to get that white fuse around the trees, it does that against the ground not the sky, and only when the sun is behind the camera. Trying to fix it now then I'll check the access violation error in the asset...

Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
@Support Just a very small drop of bitterness. I can no longer open any ROF in Rayletron. The "Access Violation" message appears at first and second attempt. And the third time I try to open an ROF, no matter if I always try to open the same file or a different ROF each time, Raylectron crashes. It freezes and when I click on something, I get the Windows error message “Program does not succeed. Wait for response or exit?”.
Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport

I'm very puzzled as to why you get this access violation error. I didn't touch anything other than the code that runs when you click Render in non-draft mode. I've been testing this release with 50+ models, new and old and not once got that error!!! I don't know what to do now!!!

Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
@Support Out of curiosity, I installed the regular build 100. Suddenly I had no more problems loading it. For comparison, I installed the new beta again. Now Raylectron crashed immediately when I tried to load an ROF. To be sure, I installed build 100 again, but now the old problem with loading: “Access violation”. So it seems to be an installation problem, or am I seeing it wrong?
Your picture looks great. I don't know, if you compare the pictures Pine and Pine 2, you can see that the tree in the front left of the picture has this edge. I tried the scene with different sun positions. The edge is when the setting for the sun is between the values (Elavation/Azimuth) 11/41 and 35/-32. But the edge can only be seen on this one tree.

That's just weird! Can you go to the Sketchup/Plugins folder (I sent you the path a day or so ago to create a shortcut to Raylectron.exe) and delete the Raylectron.rb file and the Raylectron folder. Then start SKP and install the new RBZ, exit SKP then run it again, export your model see if it will load, if so, stop the render and try to load another ROF.Okwa wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 1:10 pm @Support Out of curiosity, I installed the regular build 100. Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
No, now it's getting very weird. I did what you said. I tried it once with build 100 as well as with the beta. I tried the result several times, each time the same result. I swear to you, this is exactly the situation now when I want to load an ROF.:Support wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 1:18 pm That's just weird! The “Access Violation” message continues to appear. But Raylectron no longer crashes after three attempts. Instead, it now manages to load an ROF on exactly every 5th attempt. After that I have no more difficulties loading an ROF. Until I quit Raylectron.
When I start Raylectron again, the whole thing starts all over again. Four times in a row I get “Access Violation” message , on the 5th time the file opens and from then on I have no more problems. Until I quit Raylectron.
And again there is no apparent pattern. I have tried it several times. Tried to open the files in different sequences. I can't say that a specific file is causing problems. It's just that Raylectron refuses to open a file four times in a row. And then suddenly from the 5th attempt onwards there is no problem.
Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
oh! so that means it's trying to look for something, or 4 things, but can't, or prevented. Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
Weeks ago, I moved the folder with the ROF from my SSD, which was acting up a bit, to my HDD. That was it. But it's been a while since I moved the folder. This is not how long I have had the loading problem, I think.
Oh god, my damn memory. When did I move the folder? I can't remember for the life of me right now. I think 6 weeks ago.
Apart from the weekly Windows update, nothing else has changed.
Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
ok, when you move the ROF, the CFG and its associated texture folder, the CFG will include the old path to load textures and maps, but it looks in the new folder is it can't find a file, if all else fails, it simply tells you that the image can't be loaded and will not give an access violation.Okwa wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:51 pm Weeks ago, I moved the folder with the ROF from my SSD, which was acting up a bit, to my HDD. When in Sketchup, with a new model, and you make a box, then export to Raylectron, do you get an error as well? If you run Raylectron from the shortcut, without loading a model, does it load normally and show you that sunset on the ocean?

Starting with the shortcut leads to an error message. When starting with a shortcut instead of via Sketchup, Raylectron starts, but then the error message “”0.1“ is an invalid float” appears. And no matter what I do, I get the error message “Access violation”. Exporting something from sketchup to raylectron works without any problems.Support wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:56 pmok, when you move the ROF, the CFG and its associated texture folder, the CFG will include the old path to load textures and maps, but it looks in the new folder is it can't find a file, if all else fails, it simply tells you that the image can't be loaded and will not give an access violation.Okwa wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 2:51 pm Weeks ago, I moved the folder with the ROF from my SSD, which was acting up a bit, to my HDD. Another weird thing for you to think about. I created a box, as you said, in Sketchup and exported it to an existing ROF. When loading the file I said “do not load any settings”. Then I tried to open another ROF. No problems. All ROF's could be opened without any problems.
Then I exported the box to Raylectron again. This time with “load any setting”. Immediately I had the “Access violation” message again when I tried to load another ROF.
Re: Iari'Mhatep Intergalatic Gateway Spaceport
ah. 0.1 is not a valid float because you are in Germany and for you, it would have to be 0,1 and not 0.1 so there is something in the CFG file that is not converted to your format.Okwa wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 3:12 pm Starting with the shortcut leads to an error message. BTW, I've noticed in the meantime that if I load ROF in which space scenes with stars are saved and say “load with all settings” when loading, the stars don't work. If I load the same file and say “don't load any setting” and then activate the stars manually, the stars work without any problems.
